LED or HPS

I am about to start my first hydro grow. Would a 90 watt LED or A 400 watt HPS suit me better in closset about 3by4by4. I am in an appartment without much ventilation options. I plan on using a 4 or 6 inch exaust fan with a charcol filter set up. There will be six plants in a bubble drip system. Any advise would be great. thanks to all.

Well the LED would suit your setup better because a small fan would have a hard time cooling a HPS.

But you will probably regret buying the LED soon enough, so just buy the HPS and figure out a cooltube setup.

Your 4 or 6 inch exhaust fan is perfect for keeping your room cool. Go with the 400 hps. LEDs suck. You never see bumper crops from LEDs because they simply don't have the power to flower. They may be ok for veg, but even then, I'd go MH.

I would suggest LED for such a small space. Then you don't need to vent as mich or worry about heat

Your HPS would burn itself up and cause a fire if you stuff it in such a small place. Expect your house to burn down.

Do not put an 400hps in "box" with no inline fans, 250 would be pushing it. Get an 8:1:1 triband or more vent for you box.

Using HPS now for flowering and I am going to use the LED to veg some mothers once they get too big for outside

My temps went up 8 - 10 degrees going from LED to HPS and my yield went up a lot as well, this is the 1st time I have had to support my plants due to fat buds with the HPS

If he only has a small space with 4 plants then he can probably use Ona gel..

uhh...LEDs dont suck..if you buy a shitty one you get what you pay for..but if you spend a lil cash it grows an awesome product..so good that i bought 4 stealth grow 600 LEDs for my next grow...

Thanks lizzard. OK this will be going in a closset about 4 and a half ft wide by 3 ft deep by anywhere from 4 ft tall to about 6 ft if I want. I ordered a 90 watt ufo led. I have heard that they suck, but have also heard there great. Do you know anybody that has actually used a ufo in a small space with a hydro system? Just want the facts on these things. thanks again.

Thanxs alot. I bought a 90 watt ufo last night before reading any replies. Your the only one that said anything pos about them. I was starting to think I made a big mistake tell I read your reply. Everyone says hps is so much better(higher yeilds). Awsome grow man, PEACE BROTHER.

Thank you. I bbought a 90 watt ufo last night my closet is acually 4 and a half ft wide by 3 ft deep by anywere from 4 to 6 ft tall. With six BCN DIESEL plants in a hydro set up with the smell be that noticeble if I leave my window open 24 hrs a day? I have always been an an outdoor northern lights guy, first time indoors. I'm sorry you wasted all that money on those lights. Please keep us posted on the grow which will no doubt deter people in the future from buying them. OR, maybe you have picture of your last harvest that you'd like to post?

you must have no idea what youre talking about..ive grown with these lights before, and sold to socal dispensaries with the final product, was compensated enough to fund 3 grows of the same style...you should really refrain from talking about things you obviously know nothing about. it makes you sound young and silly.

but go ahead and follow my thread..ive started one on this grow to shut all the haters up an make them believers...i was sick of hearing all the noobs on riu talk about LEDs, because they nothing about them.
