Has anyone ever used pigeon poop as fertilizer? My buddy has pigeons as pets and I was thinking about using some droppings as nutes for my plants. I know that wild pigeons are full of diseases but these ones have been pets since babies. What do you think??? I have been trying to research it and have found a little info saying yes and no! What do you think???

Found this online:
Bird manure is premium stuff
Of all the animals on my farm, birds produce the most valuable manure of all. Pigeon guano, for instance, has been prized in Europe as a super-manure since the Middle Ages when folks kept dovecotes and pigeon lofts atop their houses, growing the squabs for food and using the manure to fertilize gardens and fields. Pigeon manure rates higher than other fowl at 4.2% nitrogen, 3% phosphorous, and 1.4% potassium. It is harder to find and gather than other manures, and is best if composted thoroughly before using.

Be careful with pigeon droppings. They can carry diseases that can mess you up via contact or breathing in dust from dried droppings.
I have no doubt it can make a decent fertilizer, but you want to be careful handling it. If using it, and you get anything from the flu to what ever that requires you to see a doctor do tell them that you raise and are around pigeons. If it is a bird related illness, they will test for it right away. If they don't know, and it is, you could become very sick before they figure it out. There is a reason that people who have to clean up after pigeons wear masks and gloves.

Im from the north of england where there are literally thousands of pigeon fanciers.
My elder brother used to keep racing pigeons and many of my friends have kept them for
40 years or more.I have never seen a pigeon fancier wearing a mask when he cleaned his loft out.
I believe pigeon shit only becomes toxic when it builds up,like on buildings where pigeons roost.
And nasty things start to breed in it.
So,aslong as the shit hasnt been allowed to build up,and it has been dried and composted for about a year.
Or even soaked in water for about a month, then use the water, diluted of course.not sure of dilution rate.
But it should be similar to chicken shit when done like this.Easy to google.
There is a desease that pigeon fanciers can catch called Pigeon Lung, but its nowt to do with their crap.
Its from a "bloom" that appears on a racing pigeons feathers when it is very fit,and will come of f when the bird is handled
and then ingested by the handler. This can be fatal but rare.So there is adownside to having fit pigeons.
Wish i knew as much about growing weed!!
