Is fresh tap water ok for hydro?

I never let it sit for soil is hydro different ? i know the problem with tap is salt build up but does that apply with hydro?

All depends how much ppm is your tap water coming out. I'd say you can use tap water as long as it's under 100PPM.
I used to use straight tap water into a DWC bucket without letting it sit and everything was perfect but my tap water was +/-60ppm.

Same here...straight from the tap into the res, no waiting. Never had a problem. I feel the small amount of chlorine helps keep the res free of algae..but that's just my opinion.

I should add...my tap water has an EC of .2 maybe lower, thats as low as my meter will read.

Yes you are right, chlorine in small amount is benificial for the rootzone of the plant and will prevent algae and deasies.
