Overcrowding

I have four plants that I think I let veg a little too long. A Golden Goat, (my personal favorite) Cough, (I'd love to know more about it. All they told me is it was "Cough". Didn't know anything more) NYC Diesel, and Cheese! They've went for about a month and a half, but considering my 3x3x6 space, I'd have started them much sooner in retrospect. The reason why is because we have had to push back the date that we're moving a couple of times now. I've been trying to hold the flowers in veg until we move because we live in an apartment complex, and I was worried about the smell. Though everything is legal, I am unsure the manager would like what I'm doing. Most recently we heard we couldn't move for another month. Now they are getting a bit big to wait another month to flower. My plan is to keep them in the screen until we move, then cut the screen out. Move them (hopefully successfully) and continue their final month or so of flowering. I am well aware I could have kept trimming them back, but I didn't find a whole lot online about overcrowding, so I thought I'd try it and add hopefully add a little info. Plus, I'd end up well over my legal limit in clones alone if I kept trimming off what was needed. haha. I hate throwing away parts. Like to keep it legal. Been to court plenty, and hated it plenty.

I am running:

-Dark Room 100. 3x3x6
-600 watt MH w/Equalizer under the bulb. (I'd highly recommend the Equalizers. They prevent hotspots and reduce the temp at the glass, allowing me to run the light at about an inch from the plants at 82 degrees. I like the tips of my plants at 75 though).
-Air Cooled Sunlight Supply Blockbuster 6 inch. Perfect coverage for the tent I'm using.
-Lumatek 600W Ballast
-Ushio 600 watt Metal Halide.
-Can Fan pulling through the hood and out a charcoal filter.
-60% Foxfarm Ocean Forest 40% Foxfarm Light Warrior.
-Foxfarm Grow Big, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom.
-Not sure of the Ph. Local shop hasn't gotten the meters I've been waiting for. All I know is ppm is low (water contains fluoride instead of chlorine), and I filter it with a Brita after boiling it, then leave it in a bucket with an airstone until it's time to water.
-I water daily. I prefer to keep the soil kind of moist at all times rather than let it dry out. So far it's worked perfectly. They all prefer theit own amounts of water which I've kept a mental log of. Should probably start writing that down. haha.
I am sure I am forgetting information as I am heavily medicated right now, so if you'd like to know anything, ask.

The first pic is the main stalk of my goatie. I just put the screen on last night and put some taller stalks under the net.

The second is the whole tent. Cheese is front right, NYC Diesel is front left, Cough is rear left, and Goat is rear right.

Tough crowd eh? Last night I gave them their first shot of blloming nutes. Advanced nutes Bud Blood, Pirahna beneficial fungi, and Tarantula beneficial bacteria. I'm gonna side-by-side these products once I get these clones ready for flower.

The first pic is the main stalk on the Goat. It's just begging for some flowers.

The fourth is the weird branching my Cough plant has had since it was a little baby clone. How exactly does this happen? Cloning a fimmed area?

The last is the little bit of burn I think I gave to Goat. Was worried about all that Phosphorous and Potassium I gave them. They are all still happy save for the slight bleaching look you can see. I gave just under the recommended dose. Goat doesn't seem to like any nutrients at all. Anybody else notice this? Time to rip le bong. Not even gonna try to put together sentences while stoned again. And if you fellas/gals see any n00b mistakes I'm making, or would like to help, or simply watch, let me know! Don't have many friends on here yet. I don't bite. nice grow man, love the stalk on the cough i dont like the look on that last picture of the goat.. seems like some interveinal chlorosis going on there. should keep a good eye on it if it gets worse.

Thanks crazehaze! Yeah, it's bothering me too. They're sleeping now, but I feel like she needs attention. Haha. Patience. It's only on about 4 of the leaves in that same area. I will kepp a close eye and keep all updated.

it does look alot like the beginning of nitrogen def.

symptoms of progression of nitrogen def.

stage 1-older leaves yellow between veins (interveinal chlorosis.)
stage 2-older bottom leaves turn yellow.
stage 3-more and more leaves yellow, severely affected leaves drop.
stage 4-leaves might develop reddish-purple stems and veins of leaf underside.
stage 5-progressively younger leaves develop interveinal chlorosis.
stage 6-all foliage yellow and drop is severe

I was thinking Potassium or Phosphorus cause yesterday I added Bud Blood (39% phosphor 25% potash), along with FF Tiger Bloom. Everything I read said it was "safe to mix with base nutrients", so I did it. All the other plants seem to have reacted positively though. We'll see soon enough. They wake up at 7. Along with all of the above mentioned I gave them some beneficial bacteria, and fungi for the roots. I added them separately putting the fungi and bacteria in 1 liter, Bud Blood in another liter, then my Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom, so I could avoid a ridiculously high ppm. Thanks for the info, and maybe I'll give her a bit of Grow Big (nitrogen rich) tonight and see if I can clear her up.

sick for a first grow man! looks like crowding isnt too bad (yet) as you have the screen set up. i had a severely overcrowded grow a few months ago that i had to throw away half my plants!! dont do that though, i kinda regret thinning them out rather than just leaving it all there and growing out the tops lol. anyway, that interveinal chlorosis looks to be a magnesium deficiency to me. check out this link and click on the potassium tab at the top of the thread, at the bottom of that page it shows a picture of Mg deficiency that looks identical to your plant, especially because it doesnt appear to be lower level fan leaves (which is why i dont think its a N deficiency)

Checked on em this morning and they didn't seem to look any worse. No better though either. Hopefully a sign that the problem has been corrected. I guess I'll know in a little time. I think I'm gonna give her half strength nutes from now on though. Ever since she was a baby she has shown distaste for nutes. Every couple of times I'd nute her she'd show a little yellowing though I'd give the other plants more water (cause they were more dry) and they never showed any problems at all. Also have a couple clones of this plant, and wanna run em as long as I can without additives this time.

I went downstairs this morning to take pics, and check temps, and made it just in time to see the lights go out. I've got em on a timer and the exact time the lights go out varies day to day. Shows how inconsistent our perception of time is eh? Cough is showing some signs of calcium deficiency, leading me to believe I have a ph problem, and probably need to dish out the cash for a proper ph pen. I'll take pics once the gals are awake tonight at 7. They already have multiple little vagina hairs from bud sites. Very excited!

I've decided to back off nutes completely for about a week or until these clear up.

Pretty sure it's a calcium deficiency and even more sure that I caused it with poorly ph'd water causing it to lock out nutes. Not positive on this though cause I've always filtered the water first, though I heard that it doesn't matter sometimes. Golden Goat showed chlorosis a few days ago though, that's why I think it's a ph problem. I know a quick fix is a ph pen but my shop hasn't received them yet. Probably investing in an RO filter after this harvest.

They're all already showing signs of flowering. Have been for about four days now. haha.


Another thing I've been wondering is if I should clean up the growth underneath the trellis. I have followed a couple of scrogs on here where they keep anything underneath the netting nice and clean looking, though I don't see how this benefits the plant much. Any science behind this that I should know about?

And finally, my clones have all rooted except for one of the cough triplets. In the little popeyes cup is the bagseed Sugar Haze cross I found.

Wait your time is suppose to be the same everyday not random it shouldn't vary.

Hmm could be two things since the same happened to me your Ph is out of wack or your nutes arent providing enough mag.Using RO could mess things up further because it strips out of minerals like calcium, mag, Iron, etc.I would say fuk your shop and order a PH meter online.I just got a nice Milwaukee pen style really nice I think it was like 80 bucks just make sure you get one with Auto Temp Compensation very important.As far as Mag def goes adding a ml of some Cal Mag should fix things up.Im a believer that you can never really get enough cal mag without adding it yourself 1 or 2 ml per gal is fine and plants look better.

The time change isn't drastic. Lights out at 7 a.m. usually, but sometimes they'll not go off until 7:08 or 7:05. I just kinda chalked this up to the fact that the timer is on a 24 hour cycle and our days last 23 hours and 56 minutes. Maybe I'm stoned and this only makes sense in my head. I have a Sunleaves Sun Dial mechanical timer. Starting to really despise it now though. Piece of shit. Anddd...I get everything at cost cause I work at a grow store. That's the only reason I'm waiting, but if we don't get them in by monday I'm just buying one online. Everything is backordered nowadays because the popularity is growing faster than the businesses. Alright, definitely something going on with these ladies. Made it a point to get some General Organics Cal Mag. My brother let me use some so hopefully things will clear up. If not, I am getting a ph pen today regardless. I was out of town all weekend and didn't get a chance to pick one up. Very frustrating. Can't wait to see how my water is. Here is what NYC is showing on about five of her fan leaves.


I put the cal mag in last night and as of this morning it hadn't gotten any worse. I guess we'll see when the lights come on. Really hoping the cal mag will correct it.

They are also definitely starting to show some hairs from between their little branches.


I cleaned up the leaves under the canopy. Only did half last night, and I'll do the rest tonight. Everything I read said it will help focus the energy on the canopy rather than waste it on the little popcorn buds underneath. Still couldn't find any science behind it, but it seemed fair enough. Pretty sure I didn't fuck up anything.



That's it for today. I'm updating this every other day until harvest. Hopefully I can get them straight and get some decent smokage for myself when all is said and done. Off to dreamland then work. How I wish I could rock and roll all night and party everyday...

Haven't got a chance to read through your thread yet but noticed right away your ballast is on the carpet. Word to the wise, move it off the ground to avoid accidental water spills and flooding, and heat + static electricity from the carpet. Plants look green though!!

SCROGgers clean up (trim) everything under the screen that isn't part of the canopy. Anything under the canopy isn't getting much light anyhow, therefore holding the plant back.

By trimming all of the leaves not on the canopy, the plant can use all of its energy to more beneficial areas, like the tops!
