correct me if im wrong...but isnt 30 euros about 50$?........but anyways after lookin back i realized you dont have a air coolable hood, so dasilva is right, dont need that powerful blower fan, prolly just a ocilating fan between plant canopy and light...

cheers guys, i have a normal fan running at the moment, just might get a slightly bigger one. the plants seem to be coming on really well under the new light. only thing is i'm not really sure exactly how close to get the light> any ideas?

the thing about lights is that your plants will have to tell you whats good.....rule of thumb is about 2 feet from the top of the plants
some like it further others maybe closer.....with a hps you just have to get the lights closer and closer until burning the leaves is a possibility...
dont keep it too far because the plants will feel like they dont have enough light then start to reach for the light....which will eventually use a lot of energy from the plant, therefore it will not be focused on the yeild or foliar growth..........
but its really trial and error
Good luck

thanks silva, i'll be watching the little girls like a hawk. i have it at about 2 feet from the plant, as advised by both you and the guy i bought the light off. do you know much about HPS conversion bulbs for MH kits?

from what i understand, the conversion bulbs put out the same light spectrum(reds,blues,greens)....just some lumens get lost in the translation..like a 400w MH is about 45,000 lumens, but with the conversion HPS bulb might only be like 40,000..i remember readin that somewhere a while back...

sorry i dont know anything about the hps conversion bulbs......actually the first time i can recall hearing it.....i think
i just bought one mh and one hps.......works for me....but if what chebus says is right then i dont see any shame in trying them out

cool cool. i've read that some ballasts run HPS and MH and you don't need a conversion bulb. i guess i would have to figure out what my ballast is first, it's built into the bulb holder i.e. all one unit. very heavy to hang from the ceiling!

do you need to buy a special bulb or just whack a HPS into my ballast? tad confused about all this...

yea i would find out if your ballast supports both MH/HPS...if it does i dont think you need any special bulb, just any regular old HPS...if not, you need a conversion bulb...also my buddys ballast that does both HPS and MH has a little switch on it so you can swith it to HPS or MH..

yeah it was a pretty sweet deal
check out HTG supply....i think they are just a ebay store
but they give you the lights, bulbs, ballasts, timer, and the fitting.....pretty easy if you ask me, that why i bought it lol

Sounds good! A bit late now though. I got my light for £30 so no complaints there. Will do a search when I get home and find out more about my ballast/fitting. Will check out that shop too!

i feel obligated to post....EVERYONE i know that has used HTG(3 people)has been unsatisfyed...i particularly remember when my boy orderd a light and ballast kit form them that was suppose to be "BRAND NEW", when he got it, it was obviously used, and i mean obviously, and the tempered lense had a crack in it, hes lucky they decided to take it back...after they made him pay shipping to return it....and the others said that there orders wernt complete and had to wait for HTG to send them the rest of their orders...which if i remember correctly took about 2 extra weeks....those people are fucking clown shoes...just know you were warned!!!!

hahaha cheers for the heads up buddy. i've used kitbagshop on ebay for my nutes and all good so far. apart from the fact that they charged me postage for each individual item! i kicked up a fuss though and they refunded.

i hate crappy sellers!

day 24: well......it's day 24 for the eldest buddha but these two are a week younger max. older buddha is doing well, coming back from injury slowly. these other two are loving the MH! they've grown loads over the last two days.

anyone reckon they are stretching for the light? i have lowered it so it's about 18" from the plants, maybe a tad more, but the node spacing seems big. what do you guys think?

also, and quite importantly, is this baby flowering? can you see the white things poking out? they are on my oldest (damaged) plant too! these are AF plants but i wasn't expecting this for a while!

man that sucks.....but i had no problems honestly...the package came prior to the date they set and everything works perfectly and was new.......but at first i did have that vibe that they werent really high quality....so idk
it might be where it was distributed from....got mine from the one in the southeastern region of the US

so to those reading: do your research and find which ever one you trust and whichever is your best option
