Does anybody know where old street lights go to die.

There is some contruction goin on by my place, there streets lights have been taken down and are obviously getting trashed as not much care was taken in storing them, there on the side of the road, but the must go somewhere and sit, nebody know where, in ontario would be even better, or who in the city you could contact???

Street lights are not the proper spectrum to grow plants with just in case you were thinking about that. FYI. Have no idea where lights go to die.

Street lights are HPS as far as I know, thats why HPS was developed, security, industrial and street among other uses??

Yea they are usually HPS but just low wattage ones. I think something like 70-110w or round about.

Ya. i'm doing the fridge thing, my avatar, so don't need huge lighting, plus with the smaller ones I can install side lighting, i would gut the light first!

ya the ones i seen are the bigger ones i think, im contemplating running over there and grabbing it, does anybody know what tools(Alan Keys, socket rench, adjustable??) I need to take the light part off the post, and i take it the ballast is on the top with the light and not on the bottom right??

Ya I saw those, but this is free and I enjoy the magyvering of things to make em work.......if I can't get my hands on a free one than HD it is!!

yeah ballasts are up top with the light in the us they are 5/8 i belive and are inset, maybe dif by you bring a small pocket socket set and an ajustable wrench.

steal them only as a last resort the gov doesn't like people stealing from them. oh btw wait till quitting time and stop by the job site with cold beer, that gets you way farther than money.
