My Caregivers Steps:
1. trims and hangs in closet keeping the door shut and lights off.
2. after the first day of drying he places a dehumidifier in the room and after a few days he places buds in a jar.
3 leaving them for a couple days and allows them to develop a better taste and burnablity.
4. gives it to me ;)

My drying/curing technique:

1) Cut the plant down and hang it upside-down for 24hrs

2) Manicure the bitch (branch by branch) and hang the branches on wire/rope

3) Wait till the buds feel crispy outside or when the stem snaps (last harvest only waited until they almost snap)

4) Jar it

5) burp it 3 times a day for 1 to 2 weeks

6) Consume!

So yea, i heard about the "newspaper" step before and imo its useless...i skip it

I hang dry till the buds turn crispy feeling on the outside, but still wet inside.

Then I take them off the stems and put the buds all together in a paper bag. Or several if you have a larger harvest.

While they are in the paper bag the buds slowly equalize. Meaning the moist inside start to make the crispy outside moist again. Give them a few light mix ups while in the paper bag. So the buds dont stick together in one big lump. Just separate them gently with your hand and "fold" them over like your making a meringue lol

After a few days they will start feeling dry enough for long term storage. I bag them up first and store away in 5 gallon food grade plastic buckets.

But after a couple days its important to check on them to see how their moisture level is. And then check again in a week. If all is good. Then your buds slowly cure. The smell will improve over the next month or so.

Check them out with your nose after that first month. They should smell better then when you last checked.

Thanks for your comments. :-) I have totaly decided to skip the newspaper. I think most people seems to feel it is not needed. I appreciate you swinging by.

I know paper bags are not newspaper, but this is a good example of the other school of thought that put me up to the idea of newspaper. :-)

im told best way is hanging the whole plant... i been told over and over not to trim wet.. sure its alot more work dry but after giving my plants everything they want / or need + the time put into them i dont mind sitting around an extra few hours trimming... after all its only gonna help my plants more... if u ever see the big mexican comercial growers they have all there plants strung up in huts to dry... they wont ever trim wet...

is there someone who can explain why this is.. or what the diffrences is in each way of curing... after all this is what i was told from my grower and have try / works great for me so please someone elaborate for me..

thank you

Man what interesting comments. I just know you are right with this one, I don't know why I know this, but to me it seems logical. I have harvested about 2 days ago. I did not do any trimming, strangely enough. :-) I think I will wait till they are dry.

How long would you say it will take before they could be ready for the jars? My temp's are between 14 and 22 degree's celcuis at the moment.

I'm a little surprised that this thread is still going. If you took two buds, one that dried before trimming, and another bud that was trimmed before drying, there is just no way you could tell a difference when comparing the two. Given that fact, why make it harder on yourself by not trimming wet?

Look dude I have never met a weed grower that does not think their way is the only way and there is no other way. I hear what you are saying, but I bet you there is a difference. :-) Just because you disagree does not mean it is not so. :-)

I do like your style though. Personally I find it the same amount of work. If it is done earlier or later does not really matter, I still need to do it. It may just seem like more work later. But all that means is that I was not stoned enough when I started trimming. :-)

Like Billy Connolly sais; "there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong kind of jacket"

Yes and to be truthfull I was also supprised this thread is still going, but it is nice to have a good ol slow chat about the niceities of curing the beutiful bud.

Do I seem stoned? hehe I think so... bongsmilie:eyesmoke::peace::joint::blsmoke:

I've been at this for 10 years and estimate that I've chopped close to 2000 plants. In a blind triangle test, you would NEVER be able to tell the difference. Btw, I can't claim credit for the 'chopping wet' technique, that was invented by smart and efficient growers eons ego ;).

I got agree with homebrewer, that sounds like an urban legend to me...either that, or just the fact that they worked harder made it taste better, ...

You guys crack me up. I have been able to link up with another dimension just like this one where my other self has chopped the leaves. When we have both dried and cured we will give each other a bud and then this question can be settled once and for all. :-)

When I read that, I heard that song by cypress hill in my head, you the one called, DR Greenthumb. :-) It starts with the dude saying, I have been growing ma-ra-ju-aana for tweeenty years. But you can't be that dude because he'd have been growing for 30 years now. hahaha

You profile pic is the funniest ever by the way. Stop looking at me like that. hehe

They have been hanging for 5 days now and are starting to feel crispier. But I think they need to hang a few days more before they get trimmed and jarred. :-)

Woop woop! I have a dry harvest of nice jucy icky sticky buds and the total is a 135 grams. Not bad for 6 plants avg 22.5 grams per plant. I am happy! :-)
