Damn, I just hit a low point in my life.

So a few months back I lost my job at citi which meant I had to move back in with my parents. I've been applying to jobs left and right with no luck, My cell phone was shut off last month and just 5 minutes ago my car was repossessed. Rewind back 2 years when I had my full time job, going to college, had a nice car and didn't worry about money.....it's crazy how things can turn around so quickly. I have zero prospects and nothing is working for me anymore, I'm seriously debating joining the military because it seems to be the only option I have left. Anyone else in a similar situation?

Pick yourself up; keep working on getting a Job and save your money.

Going into the Military is a cop out in this case.. Man up and take some responsibility for your life.

I just figured the military bonus would pay for my debt, the GI bill would pay for the rest of my college. I want to enter
and the air force has a paralegal position that I qualify for.

Sell some bud! Just enough to get back on your own two feet again... May be worth the investment in some seeds, and a few lights/good secure outdoor area.
Go small, as larger ops have a better chance of being found out, plus they cost more to start up!

Good luck bud!

I still say that if you can't pick yourself up after the *sorry bud, but you ain't experienced shit if you think that what you've described is as bad as it will get for you*; what do you suppose you will do if and when your Wife leaves you or you loose your job when you have mortgage payments and a family to feed? Would you then look for a lifeline (similar to what your doing now, i.e. Military) or will you stand up and make something of your life.

Fitch, get your life together as of now. Move forward. Pay off your debts and set some obtainable goals. Small steps lead to large leaps amigo!

Just keep positive..

It's honest; honesty can be very harsh. It's part of growing up and taking responsibility for your actions.

Additionally, I offer this guidance due to Fitch303 stating that he felt it was his only option. "I'm seriously debating joining the military because it seems to be the only option I have left."

Agreed with Krozone.
The best way forward is to stop whining and looking for no-brainer solutions, and just take a minute to think about where you can get with what you have.
The military idea, especially with an opening as a paralegal would be a good option.
Lawyers helpers need not step out onto a battlefield.
You have your whole life ahead of you still. Just set your eyes on a target and keep moving towards it, like a plant to the light... All you want to do is get to it, and when you do, the results are always rewarding.

hey man... don't let that get ya down my friend.

listen to this. I was working in the oil fields for about 2 years. This was back 4 years ago now though. I was 24-25 years old then.. and making killer paychecks. I mean honestly, no bs.. I was pulling in a modest 55k-60k/annually. Which, to me? Shit, I felt rich! I went out and bought a brand new 2005 (new back then) Honda Foreman 4wheeler; Push button 4wd; auto transmission with high/low settings; decked out with bigger tires and wheels.. it was a nice fucking 4-wheeler. Bought it right off the showroom floor! I was so proud of myself.. I went from making $6.50 at a local Honda/Mazda dealership servicing vehicles... straight into making 60k annually. That's a huge freaking change.. it felt like culture shock as if I had gone to another country or something you know?

My second and last year I was working there before I got laid-off along with 8 other people due to "Corporate decisions" to "downsize" in employee numbers in order to save money. wtf? But yeah, my second year.. about 4 months before I got laid-off.. I had just bought my neighbors 2001 BMW M3 E36 Coupe. This thing was decked out to the walls!! Factory installed BMW Stage 2 turbo kit (+205HP to stock HP); factory installed BMW stage 2 racing clutch; full body kit; with an 6speed manual transmission; Tinted windows; factory "Techno Purple" paint; never wrecked; swede interior; cream leather bucket sport seats in front; information system; Aftermarket BMW silver chrome (gun metal color) rims; The front rims were 18x8.5 Rear rims were 19x10. That baby had so much traction.. it was unbelievable.. and I miss that car so much that it breaks my heart to be honest with everyone.. :|

I had all that stuff.. and then WHAM! I get called to my supervisors office.. and I wasn't thinking that it was anything bad at the time. But I had noticed that everyone was kinda acting a little funny. The shop that morning was just a little too quiet if you know what I mean... :|

Long story short. I had just bought that car.. paid 17k for it too. Worth every fucking penny.. it only had 48k original miles on it. It wound up having 63k on it.. when I had to let it get repossessed.

I know how ya feel buddy.. trust me. I still don't have a job.. to this day. Can't find anything that doesn't require some experience.. at all.

And that's because of the economy.. it just sucks for everyone right now. Really does..

I had PERFECT fucking credit too.. before I got laid-off. I already had a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado crew-cab (4door) pickup that I had bought earlier in the year. So, I had that, the 4wheeler; and the BMW.. luckily for me.. I'm blessed with a father who is involved with politics and works for the state.. and makes a good living. He's making my payments for the truck right now. Otherwise I'd be fucking walking...

yeah my credit was in the 700's. :| Having those two repo's.. immediately dropped it all the way down to a 640. But, its getting better as the years go by.. which is good. I checked it last month.. and its back up to around 670. Once I get back into the 700's I'll feel alot better..

But, I learned something from all of this. I'm horrible with money!! :) It's true.. I am.

But my point is.. I've been where you've been in this particular subject. I had all the shit repo'd.. lost a damn good job.. ruined my credit line.. but you know what? It's all materialistic things that can be, eventually if I choose.. replaced later in life. ;)

I took it as a learning lesson really.. don't go around spending my money on expensive toys like that.. unless I have the money to pay for it right then. So, yeah.. cheer up buddy.

Things could be a lot worse.. :)

peace.

Is there any reason why you couldn't get back into college Fitch?? I would advise you to start with trying to get back into school and go on from there. I myself am in a shitty situation like you speak of and the last thing I want to do is cop out and go to the military... however, if that's the best option to take then so be it. Do what you have to do and you'll be fine in the end. Just keep your head up.

the military is not a cop out if its what he wants to do. especially the airforce its not like hes talking about joining the infantry on the front lines. file for unemployment, get a job somewhere like grocery store or food place just to have a little money to get around and try to get your car back its hard to find and get to and from a job without a car. i hope that since you worked at a bank you have some sort of money saved up or invested or something to help you for the time being. at least you have a place to stay for now.

i would also like to know why you lost your job. if you did something wrong then that is why you cant find another job so easily. if they just laid you off then you should be able to just go to another bank. i know a bank manager who just recently was laid off and he got another job at another bank like 2 weeks later.

I was laid off form citi bank, I had about 5k in the market and lost about 60% of that when it nearly crashed. I used to be a very hard worker and management would always come to me if they needed extra help or someone called off. I knew that hard work would get me somewhere but once I got the pink slip everything went down hill, I lost all my confidence and sense of self worth. I had great credit but now it's shot so I can't get any student loans, I only have 1 year under my belt. I need the discipline that I once had and I feel like the air force would straighten me out. The cool thing about the AF is they have a on campus college so at minimum I could earn my associate degree while in. I lost many things this past year but the one that really got to me is when I lost my self respect....

the other cool thing about the airforce is their the highest paid branch of the military, have tons of hot ladies , and unless your a fighter pilot you are not going to war, hell now adays they are flying predator drones in ioraq and afghanistan from the states.

Hard work doesn't get you anywhere as long as there is corporate greed.

I was at my job for 10 years, started as an assembly technician 1 screwing in screws to our products and worked hard to get to where I was before I got laid off (Business Systems Analyst.) As long as the "top dogs" keep making decisions for the company you work for, your fate is in their hands, not yours. I've applied for just about everything I did during those 10 years and am yet to even get an interview in over a year.

It sucks but I'm cashing out my stocks next week and buying a home with my wife's credit. I'd much rather invest in a home now since it's a buyers market than leave my money in the hands of those greedy fuckers. Good luck man, you are not the only one on that boat, there are a ton of us, hang in there and do what's best for you.

where i live people live off growing weed and i have a buddy who just got robbed of 100 pounds 300000 bucks in our area. now his life sucks he has a reward out for the guy who stoled it the dude that stoled it is missing lol but any ways life has its ups and downs and its just a down for alot of people due to the eco. good luck bro

and unless your a fighter pilot you are not going to war,
I beg to differ..... Tactical Air Control...Para-Rescue...Combat Control.... Many have died and not in jets. For every Jet there are 50 that support it, in theater.
