As for the shell I agree with mouthmeetsoup, it's going to hinder the growth of your plant if you can't get it off. Tho waiting does help, give it a day then if it doesn't fall off then proceed to take it off yourself. And for the two fighting in this thread, it's a bit rude to high-jack someones thread to argue whose right. steph, If he didn't post in the "newb" section I would agree with you but because he didn't, you should leave those comments to yourself.

Back on topic: I had this happen plenty of times,All occasions The plant stopped growing after about an inch and the bottom of the stem started to brown and it eventually died. If it gets bigger then half an inch and the seed hasn't BEGAN to come off then you need to "surgically remove it" lol The cotyledons will be deformed look ( long thin spindly or maybe the 2 leaves will be stuck together and slimy) but dont let that stop you, that wont effect how good it will grow.

when i thought he tried to peel the shell off my first thoughts were "thats the most basic thing to growing..if he thinks he takes the shell off before planting he must not know shit"...
