Does "Marijuana Worship" Annoy Anyone Else?

Good Times! Let me tell you a little bit about me.
I am almost 40 years old, grew up in the 80s where everyone smoked, I didn't. I never really liked the "high". I am also not a drinker or drug user of any other kind. I was never Anit-MJ, it jsut was not my thing.
A few years ago I was started on legal narcotics to treat an inoperable Neck/Spine/Hip/Knee problem. In a nut shell the nerves closest to my major joints are screwy and cause INTENSE pain for no real reason. This all started after I completely ruptured 3 discs in my back. I have had several surgeries to "Move the nerves around" in the hopes that this would help, it didn't.
I started researching natural pain remedies when I decided I wanted off of the narcotics. I am one of those "lucky people" that has several specialists that will happily prescribe any narcotic that "might" help with the pain. In fact all of my doctors tell me it is not possible when ever I broach the subject of lowering the amounts of narcotics I am on.
Am I addicted? You bet! This was very hard for me as being a "non-user" most of my life I felt somehow lessened as a person due to my physical addiction on pain meds.
WHen I started reading about the possible benefits of MJ as my saviour I figured WTF not? Other than the fact that I am not in a Med State I could not think of a reason. I wont smoke something I didn't grow so I actually still have not smoked anything, my first batch hermied and we made butter. It was somewhat helpful but it was a week 4 harvest so not very potent.
I can say I have fallen in love with the process of growing this beautiful plant but I fall short of worship. HOWEVER, IF it helps me get off of or cut way down on the narcotics and really honestly helps me out I will fall on my knees and kiss the soil-less mix it is grown in.

That Being said, I agree Women should not partake if any substance while prego, better safe than sorry. I wont drive on pain meds so I can not imagine driving high. I also agree if you are spending rent money on anything other than rent (or groceries if things are that bad) you have a problem.
If there are others out there in the kind of pain I endure daily and MJ has saved them from it, then yes, worship is in order.

I am mildly offended when U say things like "this is the problem with "MOST" of the community." I would say this board and any other only reps a very small amount of the community and there are more intelligent answers or responses in this thread than childish ones therefore saying "Most" is not only uninformed its insulting.

i think i get what the op is driving at. i think he would have gotten a lot less flack if he didn't go into such depth. i think the gist was that the pothead community tends to cling to the positive conclusions of mj studies while dismissing ALL of the negative ones, and that touting the pros while ignoring the cons probably weakens the whole movement. i think there is some truth to that. i agree this might not be the best spot for this thread.

1. Since marijuana is non-addictive, that means you can't have a problem with it.

Ok, this is a big one with me. I believe in responsible drug use, not drug abuse. If you're toking regularly early in the morning, then at lunch time, then in the afternoon, then at night, you might have a marijuana problem.

no sir this is just wrong, i smoke all day so does every other grower i know.......all day long ganga smoking:)

+ rep for your positive outlook. I think the OP was looking more for a good debate. I agree that negative aspects should not be ignored, everything has negative aspects. Everything.

On a side note I think the 2 things that weaken the legalization movement the most are 1) When people start talking about legalizing ALL drugs. I cringe at the thought of legal crack or legal heroin for recreational use. 2) As silly as it sounds I think if we started all calling it cannabis it might have less stigma than marijuana, pot, reefer etc.

I was wrong to claim the whole "most" of the community thing. I want to say that the later posters have restored my faith in the responsible folks on this board who are realists and who like to think rather than just believe! +Rep for all the thinkers out there!

And +rep for U, it isn't always easy, even on a chat board to openly change even part of ones opinion.
