YEA..JUMBO SWISHER..lol..i kno when they walk in my room and see 20x cfls plugged in there gonna freak..i was tryna see how much bang i can get for my buck..i was thinking a 150w hps and 2 105w cfls and that way i can get dense nugs and some good quality..does anybody kno how hot the 150w gets??..can i make a rubbermaid/cardboard grow box with it??

You could always use a mixture of small a big bulbs. Heck I use a mix of small CFL (23ws) big CFL (105w) Floros and a HPS bulb.

My cam broke so I can't take a pic of my room since I've add the HPS light to it.

when u can i would like a pic..cause i think were gonna have the same setup..and will it work with like 4 autos?

i have 2 150W hps, they get pretty damn hot. it depends on what brand of lamp you get tho, i have the sunmaster ones, with the ballast connected to the socket. i NEVER have ballast/top of lamp within 9 inches of any thing. i would think the rubbermaid would melt bro..
theres pics of how i had em setup a few pages back, i needed about 2 1/2 feet of vertical space to b able to vegg for a few weeks.

but the CFL mixture sounds like a great idea to me, mixed spectrum would make for better vegg and flowering!! =]

the jacks comes with a little measuring scoop and it does tell you how much to use, i use 1 scoop of jacks, 1 of the bat guano and 1 of the GH floro for flowering and i only use 1/2 of each for vegging which isnt much as i only veg for 15 days and switch out the bat guano for the worm castings. but i do use a 1/2 scoop of worm castings also in my flowering mix also. this is the way i do it so use your own desecration how you want to mix stuff. but it does work great for me. ive always used 1/2 strenght for veg and right into full strenght for flowering, again, this is the way i do it. i mix it all with 1 gallon of rain water and it comes out at 6.2 ph. plus i water my plants every day. heres the girls at day 47.

Ya I will when I go buy a new cam tomorrow I'll get some pics up. It would work for 4 autos and I mean I only grow 2 plants at a time but I veg mine a little bigger that autos get so you prob be good with 4 autos. I like the mixutre of CFLs and HPS because you can mix up the spectrums. Like I have a mix of 1 150hps 3 23w 6500k 4 42w 2700k 1 105w 2700k 2 4ft 6500k floro and 2 4ft 2700k floro, all for two plants.

Hmm.. The rain water might be a bit hard to come by here.. STL is famous for having 5 min weather changes and we haven't gotten much rain in the past few months. I'll have to check for the bat poo and worm bits tomorrow.

YEA i was thinking it might get 2 hot for the rubbermaib but i would jus hang it over the top ..but what i understand is that it doesnt have penetration that deep..so the highest i can keep it is __ from the plants ..i might have 2 go all cfl or get a 70w hps jus 2 have the hps light..with tha said do i get 4 105w cfls? one for each plant?

AND ROBZILLA ..i think u covered every spectrum..lol..thats alot of light for 2 plants..im assuming u can pull about 3-4 ounces a plant if vegged long enough..thats impressive..O AND BTW wheres that redbull can grow its the best ..just for it being a redbull can..but those things r really thick i need 2 see how u handle the heat

well with my 150's i have to keep em about 8-9 inches above the plant, and vegg plants 1 1/2-2 feet easily with no problems, it has better penetration then any CFL i have used... but i would go with 2 105 watts, i think that would be plenty for 4 plants.

Ya I used to have 4 plants in there but I had to move 2 out, long story you can read my sig journal if you want to know more.
Anyways, this is my first grow with all those lights so I don't know how much I am going to pull off of these plants yet. I would be more than happy with 3-4 ounces. I only veged for 45 days so that would be a outstanding harvest. Really I just started out with 2 4ft floros and then started mixing and matching my equipment from there. I still keep it ghetto.

I don't really get what you mean with the redbull stuff....

And honestly I don't know how my room doesnt heat up more than it does right now. It never gets above 85 with all the lights on. I mean I have my ballast outside the room and I only have 3 fans blowing in the room. I have central A/C but not in the closet, its actually in the bedroom I mean so it doesnt blow straight into the closet or anything. Really the 150hps doesnt get that hot at all. And as you prob know floros stay very cool. Really the only thing that heats up the room is the 105w CFL. For some reason that thing gets really hot.

ROB..theres a redbull grow a few pages back ..hes using a giant redbull can..thats what i was talkin about..
And ur tellin me the cfl heats up more than the hps? i wouldnt put it directly in the tub but hang it over the top..and i couldnt even veg my plants for 45 days..i would have some trees on my hand after all that..23 days under the 600 they where 10-14 inches and more than a foot wide..

Well the CFL doesnt really get hotter than the HPS. I mean but you have to put the CFL closer to the plants so it does put off more heat to the plants kind of. But your right the HPS is hotter. Ya if you are growing in a rubbermaid tub you couldnt veg for 45 days. 45 days was too long for me to veg, thats why I had to put 2 outside. It worked out though now I am only going to grow 2 plants at a time instead of 4.

im thinking it has a fan blowing directly down into it, or has a hole in the bottom for the fan to blow upwards?

Ur right the floros could be a little closer..i think if u had a a plant that had a whole lot of side branching they would work better..but any light is good light..and they look great..frosty for only 21 days.. ..im guessing those r 4ft tubes thats why u cant put them over head..i need 2 figure out what lights ima use for this tub..

Ya I guess any lights/lumens are better than none. Well I used to have 2 of the 4fts overhead but since I've gotten that HPS that thing is used for my top lighting now. My only real upgrade left is I want to possibly get another 150w HPS or a 250w HPS. But I'm happy with what I have right now. I think the buds look good for only 3 weeks into flowering.

@jumbo: Thank you for the kind words man. I don't get a lot of feed back on my grow and I'll take whatever compliments I can get!
