Trim before or after??????

It is much harder to trim after the plant is drying. As you noticed the leaves dry up and wrap around the buds and are much harder to remove. At harvest cut the plant up into the separate branches and remove any fan leaves at this time. Hang and dry for 3-7 days depending on the humidity in your area. When the branches are brittle and break, not rubbery and bendable, trim the small leaves out of the buds ( this can be done at the initial hanging when the fan leaves are removed also). Remove the buds from the stems and put into glass jars and open once a day for a couple of weeks to remove any excess moisture left in the buds. Store in cool dark place.
When drying on the stem also use the coolest and darkest place available. Never do the drying in plastic bags, wet plant material in plastic will turn to mold. The buds are useable after 5-7 days drying but the best is produced in the curing process in the jars.

the smell only gets stronger unless you water cure.

Water curing, is a joke. I was curious and tried it with 100 grams fresh bud, and the results were TERRIBLE. Yeah, it took the smell away, but also took everything else good about weed, away. It still had okay potency, but tasted so bad that it was barely smokeable. IDK, I'm bad at desrcibing how it turned out, but let me just say this....don't do it. You might as well just turn it into bubble hash, because that's all it's good for, after it's finished. :)

100 grams is way to much to water cure at a time. you should only do 28-32 grams at most in a 5 gallon bucket. I do 7 grams in mason jars if I need a stealth smoke. Its not as good as a proper cure but it will take all the smell and taste away if done right. Its not a joke. You need a shit load of water to do 100 grams,I cant imagine the gooey mess you had trying to do that much. Also did you change the water everday?
