and i also think im gonna take out the 6500k bulbs and have only 2700k bulbs...seems pointless to use the 6400k's when these things start to flower after 2-4 weeks.i think i might have gotten some shitty bulbs...before i got these 6400k's i was using only 2700k's...a fuck up on ebay...i ordered 2 of each but got all 2700k's.but my last grow was under only 2700k and it grew like a champ..was almost 3 foot before it was 2 months old.i started the diesel ryder with these 6400k's and it barely grew any height...now the roadrunner has both the 6400k's over them and its doing the same thing...staying short and dense as hell.from now on im gonna try using only 2700k's with all my autos...if i grow anymore autos..im not liking the flowering in 2-3 weeks shit...i like growing on my time and choosing what size i want it to be before i flower it

yeah its weird that you say that i started with 6500 for the first two weeks and when i switched to 2700 they took off
id recommend 2700 for the whole grow of a auto based on what happened to me

yeah i went by a few threads on here..needed tips since i never grew autos before..they all said to start with 6400k's then do a 3/4 mix of both for flowering.i think switching the lights up is bunk...seems to make more sense to have the 2700k bulbs...why bother mixing them when they flower so fast

thinking of building my light box idea tonight...wish i had 4 sockets instead of 2 with a y adapter...makes it hard to build a box that fits all the lights without making it huge.if anyone has ideas on how to make a hood/box to hold my lights and fans that wont be huge....feel free to fill me in

UPDATE......think i got it...i used my old grow box...which was already lined on the inside to protect against heat..i cut it in down to around 20 inches.im going to mount it in the very top of the box.with the 2 ends of the light box flush with the side of my grow box....instead of having it hanging in the box with a vent hose running off of it to the outside of the box..now clean fresh air will run through the first fan and the other fan blowing it right back out.so the air inside the box will hold its natural atmosphere and all the heat wont get into the grow box..the light box will be completely closed off from the grow box.only the light itself will be in the grow box...now i will just have to raise the plants to the lights...and lower the plants as they get bigger...now i wont have to keep moving the lights up every other day...which is a bitch to do .and ill also be able to use the bigger fan i have for an exhaust on the side inside the box to blow right on the plants...right now no wind is hitting the plants since i have to direct them at the lights to lower the really high temps

started working on my light box last night..should have it finished in the next couple hours...ill post some pics of it and the plants when i get it done.i think i dont need to worry about the fire hazard part...ive got the box lined with this kevlar stuff and got a layer of foil lining it too...then with 1 fan blowing across them the other pulling the air out the box..i think the heat will be gone.now all i have to figure out is how to raise my 2 plants..in 2 different sized pots and different plant heights up to the lights.either way i think lowering the heat is gonna make a huge difference for these girls.the funny part is...the box im using to make the light box is the box they sent when i ordered my girls roses for her b-day..so it says 1800-flowers.com on the side...kinda ironic...flower box used for the lights in my grow box for my flowering plants

well..its almost 7am..and after i dont know how many hours..ive got the new light box done and installed...covered up all the holes from the old fans...now there is almost no light coming out.took the 4 inch fan from the side and placed it inside the box under the plants...seems to have great air flow in the light box...ill check the temps in the am...also moved the grow box into my bedroom...fuck it..if anyone is looking for it..they will find it just the same in the closet..plus its about 15 degrees cooler in here than the closet.temps in the closet without the box....door open..fan in front of it stayed at 82 while i was working on it.its a little under 70 in the bedroom.here is some pics...the first few you will be like...what the fuck..then the last pics it will make more sense.and keep in mind..this whole thing is all made of cardboard.sorry bout the size of the pics..too tired to resize them..been up for over a day now.the last 2 pics are the fans on the sides of the grow box/light box

im just done with it..after working on this fucking box all day night to have temps over 110..its fucking pointless...with all the money and time ive spent on this shit i could ahve bought a prebuilt hydrophonic setup...no more cfl's for me either..learned my lesson..for the heat, space, and low lumens..its not worth it

now that ive calmed down...a little bit...im going to take the light box out...but ill try leaving the lights up top..since both the fans are right there.im also on my way now to pickup a few more 2700k bulbs...ill use them to finish up the two autos.figured out im getting an extra 5 degrees per bulb.im thinking of getting like a 200 watt 2700k put that by itself on the diesel and then the 2 2700ks and one 6400k on the roadrunner...if this dont work im tempted to just put them both outside in the little forest behind the house

Yea bro I went through the same thing! I spent so much time on my little cab just to move them over to my closet. I was pretty upset so I know exactly how you feel! Shit I've even had some temp issues in my closet, not nearly as bad but still my point is cfl's will put off a ton of heat if your using enough of them. Just because they don't heat up like other bulbs doesn't mean it won't raise your temps.. Anyway good luck, throw those girl outside only if you have to! Bugs are a bitch!!

yeah i know...could be the fact i didnt sleep all night and was loaded on xanax and viks....when i saw that temp at 110 i started throwing shit...think i broke the hygrometer...and oddly enough...it took my humidity from 40% to 20%..just from adding the box in.but yeah..dont wanna put them outside...these hoodrats around here will find them.and i thought of something...i had these same lights in my other grow box....now it was the same lights and sockets...after i built this box i got 2 y adapters...and the heat started in this new box......i might try taking them out also...was cheap hong kong bought 2 dollar adapters...too many damn variables in this

Thats the thing, to many variables!! I remember at one point I didn't even change anything and ambient temps where pretty much the same and the temp would be 4-5 degrees cooler or hotter lol... Shit doesn't make sense it seems like, the only way I look at it now is ambient temps have to do a lot with cooling a "hotbox" down. I was thinking about it and during the winter would be the best time to grow for me now doubt! Temps would be high's of 75-80..

well i moved it from the closet to the bedroom...at least 10 degrees cooler in here,so that should help...just picked up the 200 watt 2700k also..and damn its a big mofo.im going to take one of the adapters out and see if that helps...but it will take me down to only 3 cfls...but im gaining a extra hundred watts.if i can get it to around 83-85 id be much happier...ill figure out something

well before i pass out thought id upload some new pics...this is how i redid the lights and the fans...most importantly...the temp pic...and yeah..ive learned my lesson about starting 2 plants at different times in the same box.least by the time the roadrunner is ready to transplant...the diesel will be done.also did another big bud feeding...i find it odd..was looking back and its been 10 days since its last watering...how at those temps and after that much time did it not dry out and the leaves start drooping...thats normally when i water when i see a slight droop after 2-4 days...but it wont droop at all now..unlike before when it stayed droopy...could it be the roots are still growing into the new pot and it keeps finding water?..but enough for tonight..here is the pics..can see how the heat got to the roadrunner...that happened in a little over an hour when the temps went up to 110
