Help needed in getting a medical marijuana license in Oregon

I live in Tacoma, WA right now, but I will be moving to Oregon within the next couple of months. I plan on getting my medical marijuana card there, but I'm not sure how hard it is or what the qualifications are. Anyone have any helpful tips for me? I have ADHD and can't take any medications due to severe side effects. I have proof of doctors visits/appointments over the last 2 years for all my problems. Marijuana really does help with my ADHD, and I don't understand why anyone would want to take those poison amphetamines when there are natural medicinal alternatives out there. Am I shit out of luck, or do I have a chance? Thanks!

Ashland, OR. I don't really have anything else wrong with me, I'm overall pretty healthy. I feel like I could present a good case for my ADHD though, because I've actually been damaged by other drugs I've taken for ADHD, and I can't take amphetamines or stimulants because I have such severe side effects. I can prove all of this on paper and I have years of doctors visits.

Amen my friend. I've been smoking some herb out of Portland that made it up here to Tacoma recently, definitely impressive (Blue Dream, White Widow, Jack The Ripper). Washington is known for its fire as well, check out my page in my albums and take a look at some average stuff I picked up. $240 for single zips of that stuff, $800 qp's. Thanks again my friend!

Well, I do grow as well. I grew up around 3 of my best friends being medical marijuana growers/patients. That's where I've heard of the great reputation of Oregon, especially Portland. After I move down to Ashland, I plan on growing, but only for my personal medicinal needs. I feel very blessed to have good friends who are old time stoners that have serious skills in growing the best weed. My best friend's dad was the first medical marijuana patient in WA, pretty interesting. He has taught me well and set me up with an awesome base of information and knowledge to start growing.

Well looks like I'm in luck then (if by good meds, you mean some serious fire weed)! Check out the album on my page, it has some average dank I picked up in Tacoma. $240 for single zips, $800 for qp's. Tell me what you think.

im pretty sure you have to be a resident of oregon for at least a year before getting to be a patient. and prices are always low here in southern oregon for some of the best

THe problem is that ADHD is not a qualifying condition in Oregon. There are a few great clinics in Portland you can try. MAMA's clinic and Oregon Green Free's MMJ clinics are both great places to get your card... IF you've got a qualifying condition and medical records to back it up.
from the OMMP website:

Aa resident of the State of Oregon, who has been diagnosed by a doctor (MD or DO) with one of these conditions:

  • Agitation from Alzheimer's
  • Cancer
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV/AIDS
Or has been treated for one of the following:

  • Cachexia (wasting syndrome)
  • Severe pain
  • Severe nausea
  • Seizures, including but not limited to epilepsy
  • Persistent muscle spasm, including but not limited to Multiple Sclerosis
OF course that doesn't mean you should'nt try, i have ADHD and cannabis is very helpful, imo.. but i also have other conditions that qualify.

They already have trouble concentrating and marijuana is hardly likely to be prescribed for that. If they did, 40% of people would qualify. ADHD is somewhat common now a days. It is always being diagnosed in school aged children.

Not to be a dick to the OP, but i feel that if every smoker were to find a way to "get legal" under medical marijuana compassion laws, they very well may change the public's perception that "medical" is just becoming an excuse to get high.

Joining the OMMP, the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program.
***

You must be an Oregon resident to be a registered patient in the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP).
You must have a qualifying debilitating medical condition as listed on the Attending Physician's Statement.
Debilitating Medical Condition: your physician Checks the appropriate boxes on the ATTENDING PHYSICIAN’S STATEMENT (see form )
1. Malignant neoplasm (Cancer)
2. Glaucoma
3. Positive status for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)
4. Agitation due to Alzheimer’s Disease
5. A medical condition or treatment for a medical condition that produces for a specific patient one or more of the following:(check all that apply)

a. Cachexia
b. Severe pain
c. Severe nausea
d. Seizures, including but not limited to seizures caused by epilepsy
e. Persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to spasms caused by multiple sclerosis

Your physician must be a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) licensed to practice medicine in Oregon. You must have an established patient/physician relationship with your "attending physician." Naturopaths, chiropractors, and nurse practitioners cannot sign the documentation.
The OMMP cannot refer you to a physician. The OMMP does not have a physician referral list.

You think I could get my license if I prove that I have tried many other things for ADHD, and now weed helps with the negative side effects from my other medicine? Because the side effects of stimulants (such as vyvanse, that I take sometimes but don't want to), are nausea, not eating, insomnia, anxiety, depression. I don't really need that long of a lasting crazy speed feeling, I just need help relaxing in the evenings and getting to bed. My ADHD/anxiety is so bad that I can't sleep at all sometimes, and I would feel really energized at like 1am-2am in the morning. I would way rather just smoke a potent sativa every couple days than ever take a stimulant adhd drug ever again. Maybe a hybrid for the late evenings to relax and sleep well. It really really does help me if I smoke the proper genetics and the right times. Literally makes my depression/anxiety/ocd/adhd disappear instantly, and I feel like the old me again. For example, I just medicated with some amazing blue dream today, and went to a family bbq and had a great time talking with family and friends! It felt so good, and I had no feelings of social anxiety or restlessness at all. Certain potent sativas or hybrids are the answer to all my problems. I even can feel great for days after smoking a potent sativa, so I wouldn't even need to smoke every single day. It's complicated, but what do you think?

ADHD and Anxiety are two different things. If you are having actual panic attacks or symptoms, you may get a Doctor to treat that as a seizure. Do not mention depression and anxiety together, cause you won't get a card, you'll get anti-psychotics, not MJ.

wish ya luck. Just keep in mind, not everyone is going to qualify for compassionate MJ. It is possible that ADHD will end up on the treat list, as some research in Cali shows that ADHD children treated with MJ baked goods respond very well.

I've had panic attacks before, but learned to control them honestly just with biofeedback and such. I could definitely qualify for insomnia I'm sure, I just don't have a medical history of it yet. Fact : Every actual doctor with a medical degree that I've talked to has admitted strongly that marijuana cures all the symptoms of adhd. The problem is that most people don't really understand adhd. Just the idea of not being able to have a stable mindset should indicate something. Marijuana gives the best standard and relaxed feeling ever. It keeps you at that feeling without much fluctuation. What makes adhd a living headache is constant ideas that just don't stop even at night! Just your brain is always alive and awake with ideas and scenarios. Marijuana really helps me a lot, and I don't even know why I should have to qualify to heal myself with a plant. Hmm.
