anyone have bad experiences buying lights online??? MMJ patient please help!!

so i have enough money saved up for a nice hps light...i would like to go to the hydro store but its a lot more expensive than online stores. all i really want to know is has anyone ever had any problems ordering an hps on amazon.com??? this is a lot of money i am giving away and i want to make sure its good place to purchase from. so please, any bad experiences with amazon or any online store would be great help to me. otherwise i am gonna go ahead with it.

one more thing...i am somewhat stuck between getting a 400 watt tube or 600 watt tube. this is the 600 watt http://www.amazon.com/HPSSwitchable-Cooled-Cylinder-Light-System/dp/B0017JWLEQ/ref=pd_sbs_k_16

and this is the 400 watt

http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Light-System-Cooled-Growing/dp/B003JJ1HJM/ref=pd_sbs_k_5

i dont plan on going to ebay or any other store online so if ya'll go give your pro's and con's of these 2 lights that would be a huge help for me. i am leaning towards the 600 because the store it ships from has low negative feedback and is fullfilled by amazon, i guess that is good. anyway any help would be much appreciated. thanks!!

I would def choose the 600 over a 400, and check out HTG supply - these guys rock & have quality equipment for sale. In addition, support after the purchase can't be beat.
Personally I have purchased from them numerous times & have never been disappointed.

I third htgsupply.com, great site that has never done me wrong. also, 4hydroponics.com has some good tents and is all round pretty good too.
I went 400 watter 2 years ago and now wish I'd gone 600 watts, I'd do that right off the bat if I could make the choice again...

what are you growing in, tent, room, dimensions would help...?

My personal preference has always been going to a supply near me. You don't have to tell anyone your address , you can see products and ask questions about them on the spot, haggling on large orders is much easier, you don't run the risk of getting burned, you can pay cash and if something goes wrong just bring back the item in question and get a new one. I know tons of folks on here use online grow suppliers, I'm not putting you down. Just thought I would throw in my two cents.

just wondering, what did you purchase from them?
Two 600w digital ballasts & fixtures w/ MH & HPS lamps, additional lamps, several fans, timers, thermostats.
I might have missed something, but thats the bulk of it. Most in individual purchases so I have dealt with them quite a bit.
One of my fixtures showed up with a broken HPS lamp, didn't notice it for quite a while (while I was vegging w/ MH). They replaced it free with out even wanting to see it 4 months after I bought the darn thing. And they paid the freight too !!
That kind of customer service is why I keep going back (plus I don't have a local store I can buy from here).

this would be the best option for me but i live no where near a hydroponic store of any sort...i have gone browsing at different times at different stores when i am in the city, and it seems like they are more overpriced than most online stores. but they only sell the top quality name brand shit, no low budget low quality systems. man it sucks living in the sticks!!

whoa big order...i think i am gonna buy lights from these guys. customer service seems better than amazon and the last thing i want is to have my order fucked up and wait months to get it corrected. pretty sure im going with the 600w cooltube 6.

I'm with you fellers... HTG all the way. I do a lot of comparison shopping and they have been my choice for four orders.

If you are going to do 600w in a closet be prepared to vent out that heat...

for sure...thats why i am going with the cool tube. i think it will be real easy to hook up too...there is a door/slab of wood that leads into the attic inside of the closet. i figure i would exhaust the hot air into the attic...the only major thing i would have to do is make a hole in the wall for the air intake and then the slab of wood for exhaust.

i was also wondering about how to hook up the tube to vent...does the ducting just wrap around the ends of the tube and then you clamp it? or is it something else? i'm also not very sure about how to get air into the room...my is thick and made up of cement of some sort, its really hard. how much of a hole would i need in the wall and how would i hook up the ducting to the hole? and when you have the hole there how do you cover the hole so that nothing can get into the vents? i am mostly worried about dust getting in there or dog hair, anything that could get onto my light.

If you've ever hooked up a dryer vent then you can hookup grow light ducting. They make screens that cover intake vents, and i'd try to make a 6'' hole to match what your light hood is going to have...
