Exhausting into attic makes a good noise decrease as well for airflow noise
Yes you can. You might have to try some configs for best noise reduction like muffler then ducting then fan, ducting then muffler then fan etcThanks for the tip! Can I use the muffler on the intake part of the fan?
Adding the carbon filter is the real deal. My 8" fan, with no sound box, like my others are in, is quieter than the other 3, by a long shot. Also, like they said, the muffler, and or insulated duct work going off the fan into an attic or somewhere else really helps.Yes you can. Good luck
*a carbon filter on the intake side of a fan helps lower noise a bit as well

Those things sure do sound like a jet engine when you just turn em on, don't they!
So the humming is created from turning it down with the speed controller only? I've never used a speed controller b4 but I was planning to get 1. Sry if I sound dumb, so blazed right nowMine doesnt seem to make too much air noise, but it makes a hell of a humming noise that transfers through the wall when I use a speed controller to turn it down.
