Kinda hard to tell due to the lack of focus. Does your camera have a macro setting? Will help to get a better/clearer close up. But from what I can make out it does appear to be a male.

looks like a male to me....if you have growth in the internodes and you dont see two white pistols and you just see little pod like things (balls), then your screwed son....
