Advanced Pruning?

Hey all,
Currently on my second grow, which is the church from greenhouse seeds.
My question is about how to prune to get the best buds/yeild.
So far i have topped my plant twice (see attached pics). On each of the four main stems now the process seems to be that as each stem grows longer, more node sites are created. So my theory is (pls correct me if this is incorrect), each node site seems to start with a fan leaf and a small bit of grow, then from this node site a another branch starts to grow. So i you was to leave this branch to grow (off the main stem), again as it gets longer the same happens, more fan leaf node sites with braches growing from here ect ect....
So if i was to keep trimming the small little braches that start to grow from the fan leave node site on the main stem, therefore stopping branches growing from the main stem. Because i have topped my plant i would in theroy then be left with four main stems with no braches growing offeach one, with just the fan leaves still attached.

If i then was to flower the plant would the buds start to grow at the fan leave node sites on each of the four main stems, with the end result being 4 big long thick buds grow down the lenght of each stem?

Or do you need to have the branches growing from the main stem to create the bud sites?

On my first grow i didnt do any trimming to see how the plant naturally grew, and i ended up with lots of branches with lots of little buds. I basically would like to have less qty of buds, but bigger and thicker buds.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks

You need to allow the plant to fill out completely. Then 2 weeks before going 12/12 take off all the thin stems that are below the canopy. The more tops the better. Also the more leafs the better she can breath/exhale. She looks good so far, just don't trim anymore. Wait until you are ready to go 12/12.

I don't understand the pruning and trimming process either. How far down the plant/under the canopy do you trim? Do you trim off the new branches as they appear in flowering? What exactly is a bud site and what does it look like? Is it where the stem/petitole meets the branch-is it the tip of the growing branch? Can a kind and wise-patient person help me/us out or point us to a good place for info? Thanks.

I like to trim the very bottom branches when my girl is starting to show preflowers. That means she is about to flower in the next couple of weeks, and I like to prepare her for it. I trim the very bottom branches that will be bud sites, but only ones that are very very small and equal out to half a hoot. I also trim leaves when they are VERY VERY yellow, even if its half green, I wont trim it. I wait until its yellow and brown, then trim.

When I first started to grow I had the same questions as you. With out a doubt. I picked up one book ( Indoor outdoor medical marijuana bible ) and I grew like a pro every since. It is a step by step guide to it all. Author is Jorge Cervantes.
