Best way to hang a can filter?

Setting up my first grow.
Bought a carbon filter can and inline fan.

The fan came with some mounting brackets but the filter came with nothing but the flange.

What is the easiest method of hanging that heavy can?

My carbon filter would snap bungee cords like twigs. I suppose you could find some extra heavy duty bungee cords. However, I hang mine over my table, if my hanging method fails it will wreak havoc in my room. I use galvanized tape, the kind plumbers use to to suspend pipes. Another plus to using it is that it is fairly rigid so you can install it from the ceiling, basically making a cradle with 2 or 3 lengths of it. Then you simply set the carbon filter in the cradle. This may be overkill for you, but my carbon filter weighs about 60 pounds, so it is a very handy system. especially when you need to replace it. It can be had at any home improvement store. GL

I held mine up with some decently heavy duty hooks, then took ratchet straps and came down. The straps can found at almost every store, walmart... The kind to hold stuff to your car. Check for weight but mine is abt 100lbs and these straps laugh at it. Best of luck

I do not know about the rest, but my room is for PRODUCTION. Therefore it is built to industrial standards. I do like thekrackla's idea of using the rachet straps, even though I would not charecterize it as a industrial application. Rope and the likes can be stressed by heat and dryness and fail over time. GL

Where did you find that stuff and how did you secure the straps to the ceiling?

I use eye hooks and chain...make sure your eye hooks go into a stud or truss...this thing weighs 60lbs.

I found it in the hardware store in the plumbing section and I just screwd it in place on some joists.

I used ratchet straps connected to eylet hooks through 2x6 that was lag bolted to my ceiling. Mine is big and heavy. This way, I can slowly let down my filter, and change out the carbon when necessary by myself. I just put a 6 ft ladder under one side, let down that side, and unstrap the rest, and I'm good.
