Want To Make Cannabutter?

Want to make cannabutter, and have seen some good recipes.

First of all, when they say plant matter, do they mean leaves, and branches dried? or right off the plant? Im assuming dried.

Seen lots of different recipes, some say to simmer for 30 min, some say 6 hrs. It will be white widow plant matter, should I add far less? Some say 1 oz of plant matter, some say 1/2 oz etc.

Thanks guys.

I use 1 z of trim dried, to each pound of butter.
I just toss the whole block of butter into a slow cooker with the bud, and set it on the lowest temperature for about 6 hours.

Strain out the plant matter. Cheesecloth works well. Be careful not to burn your hands while doing this.

Set the melted cannabutter into a container that has a lid.

I allow mine to cool off in an ice water bath, then on goes the lod, and into the freezer. I have kept mine a few weeks without any harm to the goods.

Other info:

It is a good idea to grind up the trim really well. The finer a powder you can get, the more surface area of the plant is exposed, apparently allowing optimal THC dissolution.

After the cooking process, you will no longer have a pound of butter. You will lose roughly 15 - 20% mass on the end product.
This is because butter is not 100 fat. In addition to the milk fat, most, if not all butter contains a small percentage of water. This water evaporates over heating.

Just a heads up, so you don't fall short of the needed amount of butter! :)

when you say "trimmings" what do you mean? leaf, branch?

about how many decent sized plants gets you 1 oz?

best way to transfer them to powdered state? herb grinders on websites good for this?

don't use waterleaf, he means when you trim the sweetleaf from around the buds, you want material that has trichomes on it,
the method he describes with a slowcooker works awesome, I cook on high for the first hour, then put on low for 10-12 hours.
I also add 2 cups of water when I cook it, after the butter solidifies, you poke a hole in it and drain out the water. I lso use a hamburger press to press out moisture form the material in the cheesecloth. I call the last batch of brownies I made floorbrownies cause they get you so high your floored.

All said above is right.

1: The better material you use the better the butter. If you like the buzz from eating, you should try to use 10gr. of great bud for a stick (250gr) of butter - recipe above.
Fan leaves that are big (often the leaft that have a stalk) have little THC. Go for trim with crystals. Good trim use about 15-25 gr. for a stick of butter.
2: The finer you grind the material the better.
3: Slow cook for a long time - add water if neccessary.

The high from consumption is very different from smoking and vaping. You get a more mellow body stone/high. When smoking THC is sent directly to the brain - when eating you take up the THC through your kidney i think it is. This is why the feeling is different. When smoking you have a upper limit for the high - when you get very high you will automatically stop smoking, but when eating you consume everything. I would take a doze equal to a gram of good marijuana or hash.

I made some cannabutter last night and today I'm making brownies! I took a full oz of very dry bud and added it to about a quart of water, a pound of butter and a couple of cups of cooking oil. I got the butter melted, added the pot and let it rip on high for a bit then turned it down to low. I let it go for 4 hours total, poured it through a strainer then again through cheese cloth and put it in the fridge. This morning I removed the soft cannabutter from the top and poured off the stinky water stuff. I drained the cannabutter again and melted it again. Then I poured it into a container and stuck it in the fridge again to harden up (relative term since it does not really get hard). I'm about to make some brownies!

I think the oil makes your butter soft. I use unsalted regular butter and my butter is hard as regular butter.

Yeah, it is pretty soft but it melts really quick. I ate a brownie half an hour ago and I'm already having trouble typing. Kind of a nasty taste but a bit of chocolate ice cream behind it was nice. I made apple butter bars too but I can already tell in half an hour I'm going to be flying. I'll test the apple butter bars tomorrow. :)

Sounds nice. We make pancakes from the butter. Sometimes we just make some and put in the fridge for a snack every now and then. We used to smoke a lot, but i started to hate the idea of all the toxins and stuff like that so now i use vaporizer or eat - sometimes still smoke. Eating is just so very effective and i love a snack in the weekends because it will keep me buzzed for the whole day without being poisoned from smoking.
