Plants not as resinous as i thought they would be?...

I have have a couple plants that are flowering out in my garden, under a transparent grow tent (to keep elements out and let sunlight in). A GDP and Bubbleberry-(BlueberryxBubblegum). They seem to be healthy plants in most respects, however they are not as resinous as I would have figured they would be.

At the moment, they are about 5 weeks into flowering

I have seen many plants that are completely covered with resin and I was wondering if I may be doing somethign wrong?

My setup:
Bubbleberry is in a 7 gallon bucket and 57" tall
The GDP is in the ground and @around 32" tall

Soil
My soil mix was 1/2 Harvest Supreme soil (good soil from ACE), 1/6 perlite, 1/6 vermiculite, and the rest a decent soil from ACE.

Ph
My ph is at around 6.6-6.8 on both plants

Nutes/watering
I use 2tsp Fox Farm tiger Bloom, 1tsp molasses, 3 drops superthrive(every other feeding), 1/3 ounce B-1 (every other week). I have added a tsp of FF Grow Big to the mix for the last two feedings, as the schedule seems to state (on the FF web site)
I use this mix for two feedings, then plain H2O for the third, and repeat the cycle
I feed/water every 2 days, or as the soil needs it (using my moisture meter to test

Light
the plants get direct light from about 11am to 530-6pm. ( I have started taking the cover off of the tent so that the plants do not have a plastic barrier between them and the sun. But put it back on at night.

I have trimmed both plants so that the leaves the bud sites are getting a lot of sun, but tried to do it sparingly as I did not want to take away a lot of the leaves (nute storage/solar panels/transpiration).

I live on the Central Coast of California so moisture/heat/humidity are not a real problem.

As I said, my plants look healthy otherwise, I just thought they would be more white with resin than they seem to be? But, maybe they will get there when they get closer to the time I believe I am supposed to harvest them (late sept/early oct)? If anyone has any ideas on what I may be able to do to beef them up a bit, I would really appreciate it. This is all going to be for my personal use, so they do not have to look pretty just be potent and tasty with as large a yield as possible.

The pics on bottom are of the two colas on the two plants (the one with purplish stems is the Bubbleberry) , and the grow tent I have when it is pulled out of the line of sunlight.

Not all strains get triched out where you're at. When I opened the pics, I'll admit, I did expect to see more resin as well. But keep in mind, some plants take longer than others to finish. If the breeder says 8-9 weeks, you can really go 9 to as long as 11 weeks to achieve full genetic potential (just really keep an eye on those hairs & trichomes changing color).

With where you are at, you might want to consider doing what's known as a PK spike & carboload. Raising Phosphorus, Potassium, & Carbo levels at this point will really help give your plant the stores and specific nutrients it needs for bud production. I didn't notice any cal mag defeciencies, but def stay up on your cal mag products as well.

Don't forget to flush the last week or so! You have some good strains in your garden. Finish em off correctly and they will have some great flavor!

Thanks, Man! I actually forgot to put in the "nute/water" section that I add 1/4-1/2 tsp epsom salts to the mix about every 3rd watering. Also, I use a foliar feed of celated iron and zinc in between feedings about once ever 1-2 weeks (or whenever it seems they may need it).

I will read up on the PK spike & Carbo load. Sounds like my plants may like it. they can take a lot of nutrients. And, even though at one point I was feeding them almost double what my recipe says right now, I did not want to overdo it in the long run so I cut it back to what I have now. i will probably work them up to a little more PPM for the next few feeds (after this round of straight water and molasses), but then start cutting them back on nutrients again before the final flush-let them use up any strored nutesas much as possible before I tim some more of the leaves and flush the hell out of them.

I am just hoping that the laswt couple of weeks will beef them up.

Glad I can offer some helpful advice! =)

As for your plans to step up the PPMs and push them further. Some strains do feed heavily, so if they're taking it without showing any signs of burn then that's great. Just remember that plants can only accept so many nutes, and it comes down to genetics. No matter what feed patterns you use to step it up, there is always a threshold that you simply can not alter, and when that happens, you will burn the shit out of your plants. You DO NOT want to burn them with where you are, especially if you're lacking trich production and looking to sugar those girls up. Any burns will stunt growth, and hinder the plant to be able to do so.

Exactly what PPMs are we talking here on your feed schedule??? I have 6-8 foot monsters that have been going since Jan-Feb, in the ground since June, and I'm only at the 1,200-1,300 level, and if you check my 'outdoor mazar' thread, you can see some more pics & detail for comparison. Not a single burn on the leaves. I'm prob gonna keep them around these levels til mid-late Sept and then do my PK spike, and put it in the 1,500-1,600 range. At times if I feel they don't need it I'll just do simple 500 PPM feeds just to replace some specific nutes, and not do the whole array. I have some late flowering plants, but hopefully this whole wait is well worth it! =)

I do know however, that when I had my face buried in the GDP I wanted to basically make love to her. It smelled DELICIOUS!

Anyway, I think this response came out more as a stream of consciousness than anything. So, if you have any responses to this babble then I would love to hear them.

You should look into measuring your feeds by PPM (Parts Per Million), as well as checking the PH. You can do this by using an EC unit that will cost you around $100 for a good entry level device, to as much as $200-300 for a more advanced one. This gives you all the information you want to know about the strength and condition of your water & feeds prior to exposing it to your plants so that any adjustments can be made. The bottles you have can give you somewhat of directions for dosage, but as far as PPM and knowing how to mix a solution that's ideal for your specific strain and the current stage it's in, using an EC meter is by far the #1 way to achieve that.

Nice to hear the ladies are getting dank! Enjoy those nice fragrent times. My white widow is in the same boat. Can't wait for her to fill in more! =)

I have been using this meter throughout this grow. I know it is not a great one, but it has done its job pretty well so far. I only ask because I really do not have 100 to dish out right now, as I need to get myself some better lighting first. I am in the process of setting up a scrog grow in my basement. Essentially it is the perfect setup. It
s easy to control the climate (especially since central California is so mild anyway) and vents directly outside form under the house. Just a couple fans and some dryer ducting and I will be good to go (as far as ventilation). But, I digress as usual.

If I can continue to get away with this thing for the time being, then I would rather do that. I checked out some of the meters online and figure I should spend at least $100-200. However, if it is more imperative than I seem to be understanding then I will come up with the money. Your thoughts on this would definitely be appreciated.

Really? I have always gotten a very noticeable sativa high from it. I could see it being a Sativa dominant hybrid, but it would definitely be the most consistently racy indica dominant strain that I have come across. If it is mostly Indica, that would explain why I like it so much. Haha

Ya, my white widow is about 60-70% indica. You prob got the intense high because while indicas give an intense body high (high CBN & CBD levels-Around 400 cannabinoids are in marijuana to get you high, not just THC), and then on top of those high levels, it is also projected to be around 20% THC which is breaking into the threshold of some of the strongest strains out there (26% or so is about the highest I've seen). I've smoked white rhino which has a lot of widow genetics in it, and DAMN was that amazing! Def in my Top 10, if not Top 5 for favorite strains smoked. Suprisingly easy to grow, too. Very short, bushy, & compact (all traights of indicas, whereas sativas are tall, lanky christmas tree-like plants).

As for the EC unit, that's good that you went online and checked them out. Just know that if you go on eBay and search for them, you should be able to find one that will be more than what you need for $100 or so. I do have those electronic units you showed. I purchased mine at home dep. Guess I should have returned it, cuz I really did not get any results from it. If that is working for you, you can use it for now and plan to upgrade on your next grow? Def put it on your wishlist tho, as it'll help you A LOT. Personally, I gather soil samples and have a whole kit where you test samples in various tubes. One will tell you Nitrogen levels, Phosphorus, Potassium, and PH. And then I use my EC unit to mix my liquid feeds into a 50 gallon reservoir before irrigating that to my greenhouse ladies.
