Please post pics of your hydro. I want to see sum cool shit.

4 zips easy. I just harvested 2 ak 47's tonight and I'm guesstimating the dried weight will be around 10-12 ozs. I avg. about 5 zips per plant. I've never ran a flood and drain system but I beleive flood and drain is easier in the sense that there is less chance for root rot and similar problems to set in. DWC is more prone to root issues but is easier to setup and probably easier to maintain as well.

so its like having each plant in a bucket with hydroton rocks and rock wool cubes? and you can controll what each plant takes in cause the roots for each plant is in there own bucket? I run 9 plants to each 1,000 could I run 9 buckets and maybe yield more than my normal zip and 3/4 to 2 zips a plant? and do I need a rez for each 9 buckets or could I hook up all the buckets to it?

what I dont like about the flood and drain is after you flood all the left over water just drains back into your rez and then floods again. seems nasty to me. is there any way to have your pumps pump water into your buckets then drain into a seperate rez?

Yeah in my setup each plant is in it's own 5 gallon bucket with a 6inch netpot lid filled with hydroton, clones are started in rockwool and dropped into the netpots when ready.
You could probably do 9 plants for a 1000 but you would need a reflector that really spreads the light well. Plants grow huge in DWC. So they need room. You'd prolly get a better yield doing less plants but growing them out larger in a dwc setup. You should definitely get more then 2 zips a plant in dwc under a 1000w hps. As for a rez for each of the nine buckets...Well the buckets themselves are the reservoirs. Unless you do a RDWC system which is where the buckets are all connected to each other and hook up to a large reservoir that keeps them topped off. RDWC is easier for maintaining water levels and PH. But you cannot give different amounts of nutrients to each bucket as they all feed off the same main reservoir.

man that sounds tempting. i bust my ass doing these monster soil grows and its burning me out. do you think 6 bucket under a 1,000 watt sitting on top of a 4foot by 4 foot table would be allright. maybe pull a qp a plant. that would be worth it. and what is a net pot? and can I use rapid rooters to make the clones cause thats how I make my clones and they come out hella pimp. also do I need a tri meter and what is sum gud nutrients to use for hydroponics.

This is a netpot:

Rapid rooters are ok but if they break open your gonna have shit getting all over the inside of your reservoir which will suck. I stick with rockwool. Not sure what you mean by a tri meter? You mean TDS meter? They're nice but not essential. If your following a basic feeding schedule PH is more important to monitor. GH is a good reasonably priced nutrient. Canna and botanicare are good as well. I'm trying AN for the first time with my current grow. Shit is pricey but I am liking the results so far. The jury is still out on whether they are worth the price though. I'll know by the end of this run.

ok now its making sense. do the roots grow thru the net pot and into the bucket? and do you put like a 6 inch rock wool cube buried in hydroton rocks? also how often does the water pump run or is it on all the time? do you have air stones in each pot or how does that work?

Yeah the roots grow out of the pot right into the bucket. I use 1 inch RW cubes buried in hydroton. The air pump needs to be on 24/7 to keep the nutrient solution/root zone oxygenated and yes you need an airstone in every bucket. Theres some good guides to DWC here on this site that cover all the basics. You should check em out if your seriously considering switching over.

yeah i think ima do one table in the other room and perfect it then I will switch if it works out. thats alot of plugs to plug in if you need hella air stones. or do they all hook up to one plug

You can get air pumps with multiple outlets so you don't need many extra plug sockets (e.g i have a pump that can run 4 airstones)

I have to agree everything he just said. That is exactly how I am currently growing. I use 3.5 gal buckets to save on height. I also use GH nutes. The only thing I could maybe disagree with is the root issues. Yes you can have some root issues if you let light in or let the res temps get to high. I don't think its possible to get root growth better than what you get with DWC.

I want to do 5 gallon buckets. do they sell a setup RDWC that s a 6 bucket set up? If I did 6 per light I would only need 30 clones man that would be tight instead of my usual which is 72. is it true that you can pull a qp per plantin 5 gallon RDWC buckets?
