ABOUT TO TRANSPLANT AND iH AVE SOME WRITINGSL QUESTIONS

OK so I went to my local hydro dealer today to pick up some of that fox farm ocean forest soil but he said he don't carry it anymore. he told me they are not carrying it anymore because it was not like it used to be he said it sucks now so I bought roots organics by Aurora and the Guy said this is the best you can buy it contains bat guano worm, castings, perlite, pumice, compost, keep meal, fish bone meal,, soybean meal, and the list goes on it has a ton of stuff in it I just wanted to know the best way to keep air from around the roots. what's the best way to do this and also when is the best time to do it my lights are about to shut off so would now be the best time, also should I change the light cycle after I do this or maybe raise the lights up. he also said I should wet the root ball to so they don't take in to many ferts and stuff well I don't know so I really hope someone canh can help me.

after you transplant them just give them a really good watering... make sure the soil drains all the way through and drip out the bottom. as long as it drain well don't be afraid to really soak it down when you first transplant. this helps the soil settle in all around the roots properly

o yea and another thing should I fill the pots all the way to the top then water them or should I put layers and water each layer please help mgr

you want to completely surround the old soil ball with the new soil. not just on the bottom and sides but also on the top. make sure you leave a little room in the pot for water. just fill it up with dirt until it is a couple inches from the top. then water it heavily, but water it even all the way around the pot... pour slowly and rotate the pot while pouring, being careful not to wash a big hole in the soil.

I'd say that depends on the size of the root ball and how steady your hand is.

When dealing with a seedling with a signifcantly small root, shoot for watering by layers.

With an established root system, fill the pot with as much medium (soil.coco, etc.) level the root ball prior to placing them in the pot. The key is not to have air pockets. Giving them a good watering, along with poking your fingers gently around the roots with new dirt will keep this from happening.

how about the light should I do it when it goes out and should I change my light cycle or something someone told me that the light can be bad i have 250 hps

If you have been vegging for only a short amount of time and your plants are under.....say, 8", I would suggest performing the "actual" transplant away from the HPS lights, no need to even expose the roots to that lighting at all.

If it is your intention to continue to veg with HPS, keep the lights high for the first week or so...good luck.
