Here is an update on my grow. My Northern Light AF Fems are about 3 weeks now, they are doing well, staying short but bushing out very well. I decided to get two more of these going so I put 2 more into my grow. So over 17,000 Lumens of Mixed spectrums and a combined 150 Watts total for this grow as of now. I will be switching over to a 400 Watt High Pressure Sodium System soon, might still keep the CFLs around for side lighting where the 400 watter won't reach. Here are some pictures:

Over 17,000 Lumens and around 150 + or - a few Total Watts. 4 Northern Light Feminized Autoflowering plants growing all inside the Rubbermaid, all Organic Nutrients will be used for this grow. Never again will I use anything but Organic products, my frist grow suffered and I ended up with 2 males, but what can you expect using bagseed randoms from good smoke I have a pretty good collection but I will be doing business with seedbanks from now on, I rather buy a Feminized seed than waste time and money on a male plant.

Update: changed lighting setup. Here it goes: 1 4 Ft Fluoro tube 34 watts (cool white), 1 70 Watt High Pressure Sodium Bulb with remote ballast, 1 23 Watt CFL (2700 K), and 1 42 Watt CFL (2700 K). That's 170 Watts total for my four Northern Light Feminized Autoflowering plants. Around 16,000 Lumens of Mixed Spectrums. This is going to have to do until I upgrade to a high wattage HPS system. It seems to do the job, my plants are short, stout, and bushy. I hope they stay that way because I am limited in space for this current grow season. I have 5 more Northern Light Autoflowering Feminized seeds left and that will be my next grow. Hopefully the NL lives up to what I have read about the strain. I did get them from Nirvana though, I have heard many positive things about Nirvana and some negative, overall I would have to say Nirvana is a pretty decent seedbank, but I am kinda leaning towards The Attitude for my next buy, way more of a selection and free seeds with every order that sounds tempting.

I got my Nirvana seeds from the Attitude when they had the Quadruple Thunder promo. They were right around the same price and I got a ton of quality free seeds from it. For less then $60 including guaranteed shipping. That order was the first time I ordered seeds and they came through without a hitch, I would recommend them to anyone.

Trust me, I know how to "Bonzai" the hell out of that mofo, do you think we should Top of use the FIM Technique on these guys? I just can't see them getting 5 Ft though, mine are growing in this mannner: They grow by height very slowly, but in girth, these little babies get wide very fast, my biggest at the moment is probably 8 inches wide, but only 4 inches tall. I think I am just going to leave mine alone, afterall I am growing with a 150 watt HPS and some CFLs, thats all, not enough Lumens to grow 5 Ft tall.

How-To : LST (Less Stress Training)

well wasn't sure where to post this and one day was looking for a easy ass guide to the baisics of LST and i found a great one on another site that id like to post.

Well here we go, LST (Low Stress Training) the ultimate way to maximize your yield.

Before we begin lets get some knowledge on what you will be looking at.

Light Brown : Pot Outline
Green thick Lines : Main Stem
Small Thin Lines with Green Balls on top : Fan leafs
Yellow Lines : Side Branches
Red : Tiedown Metal Hooks (or thread whichever item you use, i use Hooks its easier)

The Text in the box : First digit is Step No. and Second Digit is Pot Size, below the numbers is the type of view your looking at (either from the SIDE or from the TOP)

Now that thats out of the way lets get it on..

Please note, you dont have to do it this way, its just the idea of how to do LST, this is the way i did it and you can see the end result of 4 weeks of growth this way in my signature picture where it says FIM/LST. Some may opt to use the eggcrate method where you utilize an eggcrate around the pot and tie it down to that with zipties instead of using string or hooks running from the pot itself... this way you can cover more square footage and maximize your yield even more.

Click the picture and follow along for a visioul aspect.

STEP 1 : Grow your plant from Seed or Clone to 3 or 4 leaf sets, some use 5 but i always use 3 because after 3rd leaf set the main stem starts to harden and it will be harder to bend over your plant properly without breaking the main stem.

STEP 2 : Using a metal hook (i cut small sections of cloths hanger and bend a U shape at the end as a hook) bend over your plant with metal hook at the last internode (space between the last set of fanleafs and the next to last) and stick the metal hook into your dirt to hold down the stem.

STEP 3 : This is really not a step, just waiting time... Take note of how the top of the plant that was bent down will bend back upwards towards the light, this could take anywhere from 3 hours to 1 day. Under my 1000 Watt Metal Halide light it does it in under 3 hours.

STEP 4 : Veg and dont tie down until you have a new leaf set. You will notice Side branching has started already because good light is getting to the main stem areas next to each fanleaf stem intersection with the main stem.

STEP 5 : Depending on your starting pot size you may have to transplant. If you started out with a large pot, repeat step 2 over and over again holding the main stem down with hooks until you reach the end of the pot. In this illustration to save time and drawings, i started out with a small pot and it reached the end of the pot after the first tiedown. I repotted it into a 10 inch pot which will be my final pot size for this plant in order for me to continue the LST Bends around the inside edge of the pot.

STEP 6 : Now that your new leaf set has formed you have enough length in growth since the first bend(s) to allow you to start bending the stem horizontally around the inside edge of the pot. Use metal hooks again to keep this bend in place. Side branches should be coming along very nicely.

STEP 7 : Continue repeating steps 4 and 6, allowing the plant to grow and then keep tieing it down along the inside edge of pot using metal hooks (or whatever your using) Side branches should be forming and growing up towards the light.

STEP 8 : Continue to repeat step 7 until you are all the way around the pot... when you reach the point where your plant first met the edge of the plant Top the plant (cut off the very top of the plant ) and hold it down horizontally with a metal hook.... During all this time of repeating step 7 you should also be tieing down horizontally the new branches that have formed from the main stem as much as possible until you use up as much space as possible inside the pot as well , the outter branches growing over the outside edge of the pot you can hold down as well with string to keep those tops even with the inner branches.

STEP 9 : After you have used up all possible space inside the pot (or your eggcrate) its time to just let it flower.. This is a side view of how it will and should look by that time with all the side branches growing upwards towards the light.... these will all become Collas unlike a non LST plant will only have one colla.

During flowering and even before due to lack of light on the main stem fan leafs which is all the way to the bottom almost against the soil those fanleafs will die off anyways, i usually cut these off the main stem right after the branch has grown out in that area, keeps things neat down below where you will need good airflow during flowering.. so go ahead and take off any fanleafs coming off the main stem that is going around the inside edge of the pot.

Set your timer to 12/12 and watch it bloom

There is no Step 10 in the picture but we all know what that is HARVEST!!!

I hope i shed some light on the method of LST and its benefits.

thanks man, im going to try this but mine are short right now, they are growing so fast tho, nice and wide. now they are getting taller by the day. i think its cuz im only using a 400w hps, no blue spectrum at all =/

Yeah same here, mine are nice and wide and growing taller day by day, still too small for LST yet. In my own opinion if your Nirvana Northern Light Fem. Autos are like mine they will reach a maximum height of anywhere from 14" to 24" maximum on harvest day, trust me. I am using a combined wattage of 160 Watts, lol. I think your 400 Watt HPS will do fine from seed to harvest chemdog86. Anyways keep me updated on how your lil ones are doing and I will keep you updated with mine, also I would like to do a bud comparison, since i am using a lot of CFLS and a low Wattage HPS. Keep smokin' Peace!

How's this grow going now? Growing a NL Autoflower from Nirvana myself too. It's my first grow and it's getting harvested on Sunday. I had five seeds but I managed to kill four of them in seeding stage (overenthusiastic noob syndrome) but this one has somehow made it through to the end.

It doesn't look like it will yield much, maybe an ounce dry if I'm lucky. Grown under 500w of CFL. I find it fairly stinky as well for a breed that's supposed to be low-odour.

What stage is yours at now? Do you have any recent pictures?

* This is where i'm at right now shotgun, I am just in the beginning my friend. I heard it takes Nirvana's Autoflowering Northern Lights takes 4 to 5 weeks vegative stage, then 7 to 9 weeks flowering time so how long did it take for your plant from seed to harvest? I want to know a good estimate on how long it takes to grow these Northern Light Autos.

hi, im not new to growing but i did as well buy those northern light auto and started it at 12/12 and now since reading this i changed it to 24/7 and see how that goes, but is it really 4-5 weeks veg and 7-9 weeks flower, that would be a total of 14 weeks, thats crazy i thought it would be more like 9 weeks total, im confused any info would help.

I believe it should take around 10 to 11 weeks total for Nirvana's Auto's to finish, I remember reading that these are different from Lowryder or Dwarf strains, I thought these were the same but I have heard from a lot of people on here that with Nirvana's Autoflowering Strains, you save about 3 weeks time compared to growing a regular strain, next time no more Autoflower for me, i'm just going to order photoperiod fems and 12/12 them from seed and you can do AK48 like this and finish in around 60 days. The harvest will be about the same as we will get from these Autos but in a lot less time since you can "force" them to flower instead of waiting for a maturity level before flowering.

This looks really interesting,
I've been looking at the new Auto Northern Lights recently,
hope all goes well with them.

Auto's are fantastic plants!
Some are a lot quicker than others though...

Sub'd.

Alright, I just like seeing how other people who are growing the same strain as me are doing. So far, so good. Today I made a SCROG to kinda keep the canopy even and add some support for when my plants get bud heavy!
