I will be using a lil under 2000watts of electricity including lights, fans, pumps, ect., and i was wondering if all plugged into a regular wall outlet will it blow a fuse or start a fire if on for too long??:neutral::joint:

Well please don't plug all 2000 watts into one outlet, that will definitive burn to the ground if it dose not pop the breaker.

What you need to find is how many amps are you pulling, every item should say it's amp rating. Most things have a higher amp draw when the first start up or turn on, it's best to only go 80% of the max amperage on any given fuse. Most common house (at least in the states) is 15 amps. Good luck and read as much as possible to learn about what you are trying to do.......Good luck JR

It would be the whole room. 2000 wats would be pulling like 25 amps so I dont think you could do it anyway.

Alright, well where i live the electrical main panal is in the room Im growing in.

Is there a safe and easy way for me to temporary add a whole new 20 amp circut to the panel by myself?? Or do I need to call an electricain??

Im a pretty handy carpenter but have never worked with electricity, Is it that hard to temporarely add another 20 amp circut safely without killing myself??

I would hook up a double 20 like is used for stoves and dryers to the breaker box. You might be currently sharing a breaker with other rooms as well and dont know it. My ballast runs on the same breaker as stove and washer so you cant cook and wash at same time or pop....I have to install one too so Im in the same boat. If you dont run it different, you will definately blow breaker.....I just blew the whole fuckin 100 amp the other day for the whole house.

yea i know thats what im scared is gonna happen to me when i start runnin my 600w HPS and 1000w AC, including pumps and computer and everything else in my room, I know for a fact that it will blow the circuit.

I found this thread on how to add one but i couldnt really understand on how to do it, i only read it once tho, ima read it again and see if i get it this time, anywayz heres tha link https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/78692-diy-electrical-wiring-new-120v.html#post910483

It shouldnt be that hard to do if you got tha right tools and turn tha breaker box off so you dont kill yourself.

2000 watts could be any amp??? If you have 2-1000 watt lights would only be like 8 amps. I don't understand your blanket statement of misinformation..........JR

And to the OP, if you have to ask how to do anything with electricity get a pro or buy a book and read it, like I said already.

Agreed. Ohms law, watts/voltage, comes in at roughly 4.5 if you're on 220v for a single 1000w light.

2000 watts is 16.6 amps at 120 u would be fine if u were on a 20 amp breaker but ur most likely on a 15 amp so seperate the circuit split it up! to figure out its watts divided by ur volts will give u ur amps, however that has to be a dedicated circuit with no other rooms lights and so on. Unless u wired that house u dont know how the wiring was ran!

Wrong answer bub. Your wattage divided by your voltage equals your amperage but thanks for playing.

Sorry quick math was off. Its actually like 17 watts plus 10% for safety it's 19 which is way too much for a standard 15 or 20 amp circuit like he is looking to use.

For you maybe. For JR and myself, it's closer to 9 amps. No voltage has been specified by the OP so it can be either 9 or 16.5

Well he did say a regular household plug and I dont know any regular household that run 240 to the regular plugs dude. So for the sake of the argument you are obviously trying to start it is 16.66 actually which is too much especially with 10% up or down the current can fluctuate in a REGULAR household plug.

So we are meant to know that H-town means Houston?? And even then it is merely an assumption o your part. Unless he states otherwise it could be either..

OK TTT. You win bro! Yup go ahead and pull 2000 watts from your standard household recepticle. No problems. Dont try to keep this up with me cuz Im done with you. Obviously you decided not to take FDD's advice. It's all good my brutha. I am here for fun not to knock 20 years off my maturity level and argue semantics. Love you man!!!!
