Hi, I have a grow tent, and I started with one autoflower plant to make sure I could actually take care of a living thing before I do a big harvest (kinda like getting a hamster before you get a dog). It finished great, and I'm now on my second stage: take care of multiple plants at once. I have two easy ryders growing, maybe two weeks from germination. I am using miracle grow organic choice potting mix from Home Depot (I had not yet discovered the hydro shop right down the road), and BioThrive organic blooming nutrients. Some of the older fan leaves on the plant in question started turning a little yellow, but thanks to you guys I discovered I was overwatering this one plant a little, so I held back a little bit. Bad news, they got a little more yellow. I'm glad I caught this now in case it' really bad but I went sifting through some of the topsoil in this pot and saw something moving, so I took a handful and put it on a paper towel. What I saw made my heart drop: little bugs. They were somewhere between red and white, some of them actually being red or white, and there were enough of them to thing spider mites or aphids. Please, someone help me and tell me what these are!!!!

Sorry about the size and quality, I don't have a real camera, so I took this with my iPhone the best I could.

Thanks for the help if you give it!

What if I don't have enough money to invest in a bunch of pesticides? Is there any type of "home-made" or at least cheap way of getting rid of them, excluding just throwing the plant away?

Soak 3 full flavor ciggs in glass of water for 12 hours than boil and strain out the tobbacco.....Let water cool and put a drop of dish soap and mix well....Spray entire plant thouroughly...Nicotine is the most potent chemical...It wont harm plant either and it works....

less then $20 for that stuff, but you can look up some reciepes here, 2 parts iso alchol to 1 part water sprayed several times a day on the entire plant works, a drop of dishsoap in a srayer full of water, sand around top of soil are some cheap ways.

It looks like these guys got you taken care of. Get the spiders before they get you. Also, you might want to buy a gallon of home defense and spray your grow area before each grow. I keep a gallon on hand for that and I haven't had a bug problem yet. Good luck.

Its funny that you can use tobacco as a pesticide. And people still put that shit into their lungs. I dont know if you should spray your plant with alcohol. Ive never heard that before and it seems counter intuitive. The alcohol will just evaporate. I have used the dish soap method in my soil successfully before though.

it works, It dries out the larvae, go spray some in a room and you won't want to be in there, let alone the bugs, and it doesn't hurt the plant.

Lady Bugs are your Friend, My friend!
lady bugs are ineffective when it comes to pest invasion, provide peace of mind at best. they will eat things like spider mites, but they do so selectively and are incapable of even putting a dent in infestations. if you don\'t have spider mites, you probably wouldn\'t have them even if you didn\'t have the lady bugs, and on the off chance that the lady bugs took care of all of the spider mites that made it to your grow room you\'re just a lucky bastard. if it works, why change it, but i don\'t think they\'re necessary.

The alcohol is just a spray medium. I knew some orphan girls from N. Ohio who used homemade alcohol and tobacco on all their plants with no trouble.

and my lady bugs got in there voluntarily, and i read they arent harmful so ive accepted them as my own. i used my own soil from the corn fields around my house and they were infested with those mites and it took a toll on some of my plants roots. lesson learned: dont use back yard soil if not sterilized.
