Light leak does it matter?

Best bet would be to compare it to ambient light provided by the moon. If it is darker than what the moon would put off, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If it is as bright as what a full moon would be, you might run into trouble since it is only a full moon for 1-2 days.
This is the correct answer, Most of the others are talking out there turd slicer!

think of it like this If the plants are outside at night the stars shine and there's a full moon. Will the plants stop doing what they need to do? No. minor leaks won't effect the plants.

I'm about to grow for the first time. I have an old entertainment center in my closet (it was my grand fathers, and i couldn't bear to part with it.... so i shoved it in the walkin closet) It is a perfect cabinet / box with some work. I was wondering if i took some Velcro and put it around the edges and then put some Velcro on some heavy duty white plastic ( Think grill cover or car cover, only sealing it with Velcro) if this would work. I am going to be using 6 100W CFL's with a total of maybe 4 plants ..... maybe a few more eventual. My questions are... do you think the Velcro will seal out enough light? Also, CFL's don't get to hot but do produce heat...... do you think i need ventilation (there will be a small fan in there for air circulation) ... and if so.... how do you vent with out letting light into your box? It's in my walk in closet..... every now and then my wife will leave the closet light on with out me knowing it, also we leave the closet door open all the time ( the Air vent for our room is in the closet)...... light is the enemy during flowering ... this i know... I just want to get some ideas, and perspectives on this before I drop some money on this pet project.

Long time reader ... first time poster.......

Thanks for any advice guys !

This idea sounds like it should work. Typically you seal around your ducting this prevents light from shining around the ducting hole. In your case you might leave an area for a fan to blow out and an area for a fan to blow in. If it is in your closet it should be fairly dark as it is. A little light wont hurt anything. I think it is mostly high intensity of light when everything else is dark. I had lots of light leak last harvest, no problems other than one plant goin hermie. Pulled a lb. Ive come to realize its not that big of a deal if the light isnt strong.
