2nd Grow - Purple AK47 + God Bud [400w HPS]

Sup guys.. I started my 2nd grow about 2 weeks ago and I'm just looking for some advice/tips/anything.

Few notes about my last grow.. I vegged for 7 full weeks under CFLs and stretched out one of my plants. I switched into flowering with a 400w HPS and got 2 zips of pretty decent bud from the stretched sativa and 1 zip of some ehhh-not so good bud from the normal short indica I had. Dry weights, hung for 7-8 days and cured 3 weeks so far. The worse part is that I used FoxFarm soil nutes for the entire 7 weeks of veg and both plants were dwc in 1 bucket.

This time I got General Hydroponics MaxiGro, MaxiBloom, and KoolBloom. I got the AK-47 and God Bud from a local medical dispensary and started with feeding them with about 4/25 strength of MaxiGro. Last week I fed them with 1/3 strength and this week I plan on kicking it up to 2/3 strength. My normal feeding days are Saturday, but I was too busy yesterday and I plan to feed them today.

This grow.. in 1 weeks time.. the God Bud went from 9in to 18 and the Purple AK 4.5in to 9. Last grow.. pathetic.

Some concerns I have for my new grow are my feeding schedule and some weird plant problems.

These two are from the God Bud, the taller plant. About 2-3 leaves turned sideways like that last night.. and the curving down has been happening to my other plant and it also happened in my last grow.


These three are from the Purple AK-47, the shorter plant. There's a rip in one of the leaves and there are a lot of weird yellow dash lines all over the whole plant. And one of the leaves has some weird white stuff building from the tips.. The last picture is a little hard to see, but there are two white tips by the very tip of the sides of that leaf.

Also, in my last grow I got my clones and they had green stems. These new ones that I got also had green stems when I got them.. In both grows, they all went purple stem. Any clue what that might be?

I'm using reverse-osmosis water from the water filtering machines near the local Safeway and giving each plant 3 gallons of water mixed with nutes every Saturday. The ph is really stable and the water reservoir temperature is a little high at 76-77, but the roots look very healthy and white. Room temperature is mostly around 80.. but if it goes too high, I turn on the AC. Humidity about 40-50. Last few days humidity has been 51+

So what do you guys think?

Cool nice set up.. I also use General Hydroponics nutrient blend with some floralicious plus and Florablend to make them love me more. So far so good , I also veg under florescent I use a T5 though. My plants have been in thier DWC reservoirs since Sept 1st so almost 4 weeks for me.

I'm growing White Russian and its a breed from AK-47 and White Widow and I too experienced the edges of my leaves turning brown in the early stages. I have to think its from over nuteing I even started two plants late and took the PPM to 300 even and still the same thing. from now on I will start this strain at a PPM of 200 .

Oh yeah dude, I was planning on getting the liquid nutes after this stuff runs out.. but it seems like I'm gonna have this for a couple of grows hahah.

A little update on my babies.. they've both grown about 2-3 in but I just fed them today.. 2 days late, oh well..
The God Bud is really tall.. I just hope the purple ak can catch up to that size because I'm planning on switching to flowering in 5 days! yee!

Should I keep vegging to get a bigger yield or are they tall/mature enough? I'm trying not to top/fim so I can have 1 really nice big cola from each baby.
I have about 13in left to grow if I raise the HPS all the way up.

If I do switch into flowering, could I start out full dose on the flower nutes?

You may want to get familiar with LST or bending/pinching NOW !
If all you have is 13 inches left, to raise the light, you are going to need to incorporate some kind training.
One plant is 23 inches and could end up 4 - 5 feet tall
Another that is 13 inches and could end up 2 - 3 feet tall.

oh yeah, good point. My last grow only ended up growing about 2-3 inches once I flipped into flowering and I pretty much forgot the whole stretch phase..
I bent the god bud down very gently and got it to look like this

Hopefully that will help.

What do you think about flowering though? Should I flip in 2 days or veg more?
And would full dose flower nutes sound okay?(GH's maxibloom) I'm thinking of adding in the 2nd part flower nutes after 4 weeks all the way to the end. (GH's koolbloom)

Keep the grow nutes (Nitrogen) going for the first 4 weeks at least, then stop.
I use KoolBloom every 2 weeks beginning on bloom Days 15, 29 and 36 (not 42) then stop.
Flush from Days 52 - 63.

You're gonna have to tweak it somehow if you plan to use the GH Maxi line.
The NPK numbers are diff than the GH Flora line.
All you need is Flora Micro and Bloom.
Two 32oz bottles hit for $25 or less.
Forget what the KoolBloom cost.

Oh yeah, I figured that. I went onto the GH site and got their labels for the micro/bloom and compared them to the feeding schedule that you posted, it's about 2/3 str of recommended strength, so I just did that with the Maxi nutes for now.
And for 25 bucks, I might just give these nutes to a friend after this grow and get the Flora line. I should probably keep the powder koolbloom though, since that works both ways right?

I got both Maxigro and Bloom in there and the lights shut off about 2 hours ago, so darkness is 10am - 10pm. Couldn't handle the 300$ extra electricity for the 1200w AC in my room.. lol

Most def keep the powder KoolBloom.
I do lights on at night too !
Electricity is always cheaper during late night because it's opposite of peak usage times !!
And just so happens to work out perfectly during the Summer heat too.

Thanks man, I'm gonna add onto that picture every week all the way till the end.

Today was a little hot, so I checked inside my closet and it was like 83 and the lights are off. My temperatures when the lights are on is like 75-80. Do you think that's going to be a problem considering it should be cooler when lights are off? Should I just give them 24 hours of dark and just go back to having the lights on during the day?

I started working on a new grow box too. The dimensions are 20x10x27. I made some holes, put up 2 really good fans for exhaust at the top and 1 pc fan to suck in some fresh air. I still have to get some panda film, all the bubbler stuff, a seed.. so a while problem until I get that goin.

I'm gonna be growing a mother on one side and every 2-3 weeks, vegging a clone from her on the other side. I'm gonna try to get a perpetual thing going.. like start with a clone, veg her for 2-3 weeks, move her into the flower room, and repeat until there are 4 plants in there. Then I'll just keep growing the mother, wait for one of the plants to finish flowering, start another clone in veg.. and just keep looping it like that. Planning on 6-8 23w CFLs in there.

83 still is good, but I understand what you're saying too.
It's up to you and what benefits you most as far as the lighting schedule.
Night temps are cooler during Winter months and allows colors to be shown in some strains, but not all.
Why is your new box only 27 inches tall ?
Clones vegged for 2 - 3 weeks will outgrow that space during bloom.

Well as long as it doesn't effect the buds or yield or anything.. I'd rather keep it off during the day. September is almost over and I just hope this heat goes away with it.

The box is just the vegging place. I'm not gonna flower in there. I plan to keep 1 mother in there, just about 1ft tall. Then I plan on vegging 1 clone from her for 2 weeks > move it into the flowering room and do that until I got 4 plants flowering. I would have gone with a bigger box, but I just had all this stuff laying around.. and it seems like its gonna be producing a lot more bud. Harvesting every 2 weeks or something would be soooo dope!

Not much of an update, just pics really. Just swapped out the reservoir tonight. 2nd week of flowering has begun. Here are pics followed by the overall pictures.




I have a weird little pinkness starting to form on the upper roots, 1 inch below the netpot maybe? Where there are only a few, thicker roots.

Now I know I shouldn't get my hopes up or anything.. but considering that my last grow, I slacked off on pH, had bad nutes, and didn't use RO water.. I think this grow is going to be considerably a lot more yield. I was surprised when I got 3 oz total dried off my first 2 plants, but I'm really starting to wonder if I could maybe pull half a pound this grow.. as crazy as it sounds hahah. I haven't really gotten on top of the pH, and I have not even used a PPM meter ever. I plan to, but after this grow. I havn't been all that great on the nutes either. My RO water is at a perfect 5.7 or 5.8, but whenever I add in my nutes, it drops down to like 3.45 and no matter how much freakin PH up I pour in there, it stays at 3.45... weird stuff. So I really have not even bothered checking pH this grow, at all.. maybe twice during 2 different res changes. The leaves kind of show for that, I mean there are some weird things happening, like holes in the leaves, weird coloring, etc etc.. but not even close to what happened to my last grow.. and I still got 3oz off that.. so I'm really hopin for some real DANK this time!!
