I have a 8"x8" square space to fill and am looking for opinions on lighting. Which would be better for the space....4x 400W or 2x 600W...

What do you think tokers/growers???

.

You have 64 square feet so you need (64 sq ft X 50 W/sq ft) = 3020 watts for a stationary light, for best flowering.

If you use a light mover you can cut that in half.

.

A 400 watt light leaves a light foot print of 36" x 30"; a 600 watt light leaves a light foot print of 4' x 3'.

For that room I would go 2 x 600 watt on light movers going over cages of 8' x 3' area; 2' running down the centre of the room for working space.

If you don' put up reflection in the middle of the room then have the movers run on opposite rotations so there is light at both end of the room at all times. Not very important but it will help.

What happened i thought you wanted some leds?Im just joking but 2 600 would be good on light movers also less wattage being used than 1600 watts from the 4-400 watts

Sup Dudes,

i'd read in a post this weekend, stating that it would be better to have more light fixtures covering a particular area (with no movers) as opposed to having less high wattage lights. I'll have to look through my history to find. I'll put it up if I find. So don't shoot me dude if I'm wrong I'm just regurgitating what I read... So I'm not wrong but what I read may be...

Nor am I trying to pass bad info. Just sharing what i read...

:peace:
Ciao,

The light movers would be nice but I forgot to mention I am in a tent, cant see those flimsy things holding all that.

Another thing to ask is this, i'm on the 3rd floor of a block of flats, I have 2x 8"x4" tents joined together to make a 8"x8". Do you guys think that a heat signature would be recognisable form outside, I have a window facing outside to the rear of the building. My concern is heat signature. I could as an option stick up a partition wall from celotex between the window and my tents. Can a person trust what these tent makers claim?

Should be good i dont think it would be a heat sig.A space heater is usually a 1500 watts and people use those for the winter.

Are you referring to the heat signature or the electricity consumption? bare in mind you guys have it much easier in the US, here in the UK there is no such thing as MMJ.

Hi Nate, thanks, do you have any pics I can see, how many plants and how much you producing?

How did your lemon haze turn out? when you say a space heater, do you mean a element heater? and whats your opinion of these tents and IR hiding?
Still growing the super lemon haze.
When i say space heater its a little heater to heat up a room.Like a portable a/c.
As long as you have the temps controlled and r not using 10-1000 watt lights you should be fine.

Hobbs is right I built a room just like his and movers are the way to go. I would say if you use 2x4's you could support a mover in your room no problem. Just make a wooden square going from top to botttom at each end of grow room for stability then put another 2x4 at the top going from ned to end and connect yor mover.
Peace
