An experiment in getting rid of mites, Its WORKING for me!! FeedBack PleZ

Ok this might sound far fetched or stupid maybe but this is what I did.
I've been having some trouble lately with these rust spots on my leaves.
I couldn't figure out what the hell it was. So I went and out a nd got a PH Tester to check that first, and turns out my soil is damn near perfect ph so not the issue. Now I've been considrjng mites but I didn't really see anything but those mofos were there, they really are that small, and also I think I caught this right when I needed to as well. Now I know mites do not likE co2 and they do not like tobacco right?
After seeing one mite this AM I had to do something, so I went and made up some co2 with sugar and yeast. Next I took a tall garbage bag and placed it over my plant sealing it as well as I could. Next I light up a black and mild cigar and started puffin. Now when my co2 was ready I put it It in The sealed garbage bag with the plant kinda trapping those mites in thier with the co2, then i took my black and mild and started blowing big hits of tobbqco smoke in as well. Now I kid you not I let that sit for an hour or so t see what happend and I roomove the bag off and low and behold thier are 2 mites hanging from a thread dead as door nail....I got them Suckas!!! Now I think I nipped this in the bud (no pun intended) early so it might hav been easier for me because I had no huge infestation. But this worked and also im sure all that co2 trapped In the bag gave my plant a little boost at least. So killiNg two birds with one stone(r) so to speak

Kill those buggers.
I think its CO Carbon Monoxide, from the smoke.
The straight exhaust (clean) we breathe contains the CO2.
Maybe I'm stoned correct me if I'm wrong.

Gonna smoke out my basil cause it has some flying guys.

good idea, I think a less drastic measure could be thought up. It seems a tenting would bring the same effect as bagging. Outdoor idea, use a smoldering oak ember to fill it with smoke. Might enhance the flavor, it certainly does my hamburgers. lol

also as tobaco is used in some solutions I figured I'd blow a shit load of tobacco smoke inthier
along with the co2 mixture I think I'm on to somehing here..... Or I'm baked lol

I'm tellig you guys this works. I think IF you have a bad infestation it's gonna be much harder
and of course yhe bigger the plant the harder this is going to be. Also I'm not sure about the issues
of thier eggs or larvae?? I'm gonna wash off the eggs with some soapy water and try and shake em gently off,
hopefully those eggs won't be a problem because of Harvest soon, and I'm gonna try and get most of em off.

That's a really good idea, using bags like that. Honestly though, I'd back off with the smoke, because nicotine will really fuck up your plants. It's the CO2 that's doing the killing. I've seen guys with CO2 setups kill mites off, by sealing everything up and raising the PPM levels really high, for a few hours, suffocating the mites. That's what happened to your's. The smoke might've helped kill them, but I'd ditch it, 'cause sooner or later, it's going to cause problems. Containing the CO2 in a bag, is the breakthrough here. Excellent idea, and worth a + rep.

Also are mites really a problem in the northeast due to cold weather around harvest time??? Would cold weather have killed them eventually?!!(probably to late to save the harvest thoguh)
also I figured out how I got these ltittle bastards..... Stupid stupid stupid of me
I used a few tomato cages one day to tie her up after some lst training and guess what??
There were mites all over that cage because the damn tomatoe plants previously used had mites!!!!
Also I brought her inside a couple times when it rained really hard for a few days and I'm pretty sure that added to the problem.

After fighting for several months I shut down for a while. Unless you can gas the room, they will return...but excellent to save a crop late in flower where miticide is not wanted. I have been reading about Liquid Ivermectin used for bird mites being effective and it's half life is 5-7 days...this may be an option for the future.

I think the tobacco smoke is interesting and along with the CO2 and CO must speed up the kill...but I would be wary of flavoring the bud a bit.

Good Luck...hope you got en they are a bitch! My new girls just went to flower, but I started them outside...brought them in had 1 mite...killed it...been several weeks...so far so good! Sprayed with Neem as a preventative a few days ago.

smoke and such so I only left the smoke in thier for an hour or so realesed the smoke and continued on

Nah no jack...think of it as a bump! It is just cool that as I lurk through the SM threads I see people trying the CO2 method. There is nothing new under the sun...but I could not find anything about using CO2 for non-toxic spider mite annihilation for buds too close to harvest to nuke prior to my trial.

My concern is that people who use this understand the dangers as well as the fact that it is not the silver bullet we are all looking for unless you have a sealed room. I also tend to get a touch of damage from what I assume is frost bite and excessive moisture...but the mites and eggs are dead...mileage may vary.

I think the tobacco may speed up the treatment (cool!) cuz I go 24-48 hours in huge clear bags. When they get a foot hold they are a growers worst nightmare...F. gnats and thrips are NOTHING compared to these fookers! Anyone who runs perpetual should consider more drastic measures...from my experience

Also,...start spraying your pots and soil, with neem, as preventative maintenance. Mites will never go near the stuff. So, if you don't have 'em already, you never will.

Hot shot no pest strip will hands down rid you of any bug infestionation from aphids, mites and thrips, Just go to lowes and get a hot shot no pest strip for 7 bux and BAM. THE CURE!!! and voice's sing praise... lol

Well poeples with mite problems I suggest this, it worked. I didn't use tobacco spray I str8
smoked a black and mild and filled the bad up with smoke.....
Also does anyone know whether or not these things survive in colder
weather????? Also I had one of those hot shots things but it was in a case and self standing with slits in thr plastic casing.......
Is this the same thing u guys are talling about??? Seems awfully

im pretty sure the pest strips are safe. its just a vapor. the plants themselves dont actually "breathe" it in. if youre concerned about it contaminating your product, then take it out of your room once the insect problem has been resolved.
