I say 12, 3 on left side, 3 on top left side, 3 on top right side, 3 on right side. I have read a 75/25 % mix is good. So veg 75% 6500k & 28% 2700k. Flower do just the opposite. Just think how the Sun is, different through each phase, and by the day. 16 may be too much.

Ok, so for Veg I will go with something like this. I'll obviously do the inverse for flowering.

Thanks for the suggestion, I do like the idea of blending the lights weighted towards the vegetative and flowering cycles.

Follow up question. When should I start applying this light plan to the plants... how much further out from today should I be ready to go with this?

Looks good, I would start as you acquire all parts. So if you have some of the parts now, do it. As you get others keep adding until its done.

I have all the parts... just a latter of how big or what stage should I begin. they are so small, I don't want to waste light.

I guess you could wait a week or so in that regard. Maybe wait till half your plants have a second real leaf set. Should be anywhere from 5-10 days away.

Guys, I wanted to share my recently built outdoor hydroponics garden. I purchased some plants at my local garden shop as well as the nutes. I have:
2 sweet peppers
1 tomato
1 oregano
1 basil
1 bean plant (this is for my daughters science class. I bet she is the only student in her class growing in hydroponics)



growing is fun!

DAY 6 and day 8 for the almost departed
Water: hardly any, soil still moist to touch barely, not dry though
Domes: off today
Lighting: currently 6 X 23 Watt (4) - 6,500K and (2) - 2,700
Temps: 77 to 81 degrees F
Humidity: 40 to 41%

This ones leaves look strange and not consistent with a lot of spouts I've seen.



This one will soon be dead, but some how keeps its head up... it's the only 8 day old plant.

Just got my paid for seed in the mail. looks like I only have two plants to take a run at, but the possibility of a male when up significantly. I'll see how this goes for the next several weeks if I don't murder these first.

I like it! keep it up. I just germinated some Deep Purple seeds from subcool. I have a sick stealth box aswell but im using a about 10K lumens in CFL. Im intrigued to see how your plants do under your lights. Their lookin good so far bro.

yea it does. I just don't think you'll have enough room in that box to be putting those lights on the side like you were planning... Fixing them all on top may be a wiser decision. Just a thought. You can do what you think is best. Are you going to LST?

you know, it may be the FFOF soil that is killing the one plant. looks like severe nute burn. i could be wrong. maybe pick up a $1.00 bag of plain top soil with no bark from lowes or home depot for starting your paid for seedling. dont want to waste that money ya know. all else looks good. and remember, everytime you water you release nutes. so if you want to let them dry up a little and then spray instead of water the soil it may help them start off a little more. you will still have to water the soil, but maybe do it down one side of the cup only, leaving 2/3rds the soil dry after the watering.

I am going to LST... don't know how exactly yet, but I know where to find out how... RIU. The side lights would up against the side not protruding towards the middle rather going parallel with the side walls.

I was thinking the soil may be a little nutrient rich as well. the other two seem to enjoy the food, but I guess I will see as they come along. Right now I will water in the pan and allow the cups to suck up the water as I cut four holes at the bottom of each cup to absorb the water. I will give them a little water tonight if the soil is good and dry and the plants look thirsty. Thanks

2 problems i see Easy, 1 your cups are clear, that wont be good for the root when they fill the cup up, and 2, you just mentioned it, they should have drainage holes cut in the bottom, so the water doesnt sit there. I say add as many lights as you can without making the heat rise too much, I use Seven 30 watt bulbs for my veg chamber, and it cant be much bigger than your box right now.

Thanks billcollector... I'll tape up the cups I have right now to keep the light out as you suggested and the holes I have now are good and I probably should have cut those holes a long time ago, maybe slowed the growth with over moist soil. sound good?

That is what I was suggesting, or even easier, place the clear cup into a red party cup, so if you want you can still see the root growth, and then just put it back inside the other cup to block the light.
