I do have one question though, to help keeps the temps down and air flowing quicker i attached a fan to the end of spliced ac duct in order to suck air out of it quicker. With the fan i had running in there now it made temps go up quite a bit for some reason; do i need to have that black fan running at all if i have the fan blowing the cold air in and the fan sucking the hot air out of the top of the tent mounted on top of the reflector for the HPS light?

i would keep the other fan...to help circulate the air inside the area...and the plants needs airflow over them...in nature the plants will build their stem strength cause of the wind...the more wind that blows on them the stronger the stems need to be.you always want to have the plants blowing around a lil bit even if the temps are low...helps build strong stems

No what i meant was when i had the black fan on inside the unit the temps were very high for some reason; almost as if it was blowing the cold air out of the tent. Without the black fan on but with the exhaust and intake fans on temps were around 80 degrees. But with both the black fan on and the exhaust/intake fans on it went up to 90. i have no idea how or why this occurred, but it did.

hmmm..that shouldnt happen...how powerful of a fan is it...is it near a source of heat....try placing it closer to the ac vent...but thats got me stumped

Im not too sure on what power it is, but on the lowest of the three settings, its pumping at least 10 mph winds out of it. Tomorrow ill give you full specs on it. Ill try moving the fan around at different angles next time i get a chance to see if that helps at all.

1 110 CFM pulling air in from outside the tent which enters at ground level. There is a white 6" fans laying in the opposite corner pointed up. This blows an cool air that has settled at the bottom up into the tent. There is another 6" fan blowing on the ladies. Another a few feet above the light moving air around in the top third of the tent. The exhaust fan sits at the top pulling the hot air out. I found that one fan I was running was running hot. It was being restricted and causing an increase in temps on the motor itself. You may be having the same issue? Restriction on the fan somehow? The motor on the fan will produce some heat. However your talking about a substantial increase in temps

What i was thinking was that the fan was blowing all the cold air that came into the tent out before it had a chance to mix more with the air already inside to cool down the whole area. I repositioned my fan in a different corner and blowing straight across and not diagonally up.

a fan should not increase the heat that much...if its not restricted in the back of it...it must be near a source of heat...can we get some pics of the setup as it is now?how long did you leave the fan running....things need time to settle in and start moving the air around properly

Its a bit of a ghetto setup, but it gets the job done. There are gaps on the bottom that lead to the rest of the attic which is at 100 degrees during the day, this is where i think the fan is sucking air out of

do you have your grow area completely closed off from the rest of the area?if not...ive figured out a way to build a really kick ass grow tent..for a hell of a lot cheaper then they sell them for...sometimes $200-$300 for some tents..when its nothing but plastic...kinda a rip off..but if you enclose the area...it will hold a much better temp..keep the odors down...which roadrunners do stink up a room bad...and even if its just one plant...she is truley a skunk/diesel combo.but if interested i can make up a thread for plans on how to build one...im bored and stoned anyways...ha

yeah...there is no way the heat is gonna be removed from all that...anywhere you place the fans you are circulating hot air...i would really look into a grow tent or a vented grow box...and run your ac vent right into it

I posted this previously, i have a fan attached to the top of the light sucking all the hot air out and an ac duct blowing cold air directly into the setup with a fan blowing it out the vent faster.

And its pretty much sealed up tight, except like a few tiny spaces at the bottom of the area where a little hot air can get in.

but yea, show me a simple grow area : P

Here is the intake and outtake vents. The intake is a splice of the main a/c duct of the house "i pulled it in further and attached a fan to the end of the duct as well"

The outtake is attached to the top of the reflector for the HPS light with a large hole drilled in the top of it.

ok..i see how you have it setup now..and yeah having that size fan in there is going to pull more pressure in (hot air) then the ac can pump out...maybe instead of having the one big fan in there....run a string across the top of it..and hang 2 cpu fans right next to the plant blowing on them...that will give the stems the airflow it needs..without pulling all the hot air in...and let me finish my dinner,dishes,smoke a bowl routine and ill toss the plans together

Im either going to do that or get a weaker box fan to blow air onto the plant.
The computer fan idea also sounds pretty good; for some reason i seem to have an endless supply of those things in my attic

Update: I relocated the fan a bit in the tent and the temps are fine now. 80 during the day and 75 at night.

So I may have been underfeeding my seedling the last week, but I think it worked out because I read somewhere no
nutes for the first week. When checking the ppm of my water do I subtract the initial ppm of the water out of the tap? For instance, say I wanted a ppm of 300 for my seeding, and my ppm of the water straight out of the tap reads at 250. I would add nutes till my meter read 550ppm?
