I'm thinking about moving. I live in an apartment and my landlords cool. I'm thinking of renting a house and want to know if the landlord should be ok or should I expect nosy landlord and neighbors? I'm looking for any advise on renting a house where a garden wont be a problem.

I hear that for grow purposes, you might want to be looking at rentals represented by property management company's (as opposed to individuals) Less contact and you never even meet the owner. (this is what I have heard, I have never rented for grow purposes)

My last place was rented from a company and not the individual. The manager never came to the house once. On the negative of that, we were evicted for being 25 days late for ONE month. Even though I was waiting for unemployment and I had just been laid off the month before.

Your best bet, even though its hard to find is rent from a landlord who lives out of state. It's great. Make sure your local laws and or lease say the landlord has to give you a days or more notice before coming to the house.

Plus rep for property management idea...I just looked at a management companies listings I found some good houses for rent probably a better idea than renting one i find on craiggs list.

Property management can also be sort of a bitch... We got lucky, we just moved into a relatively new house, but our landlords live out of state. They don't have a property management company either, so it's just them. They desperately wanted to sell, but couldn't so they had to lease it. They charge us a deductible for any maintenance because they would much prefer us take care of it ourselves (the boy is very handy) rather than them have to hire someone out of state. I doubt they'll be stopping by any time soon. Also, you might want to make sure your lease has a buyout clause for the end of your lease when they start showing the house. For a measly $500 we can guarantee no one will be stopping by our home until we have vacated the premises.

Good luck!
