120mm PC fans for cool tube??

Yeah, i was wondering if Pc fans could do the trick?? I am really aiming for some serious stealth in my grow cab (3 wide x 2 deep x 7 tall )....ill be using a 400w and dont feel like constitly having the can fan noise......i mean, if some of you guys are using can fans....is it really that loud inside a well sealed box?

I think a Pc fan will work but that small space will get hot with a 400w light in there.

Have you thought about using a few cfl's instead?

im doing it now and it works a treat, your grow sounds much like mine. My computer fan is hooked up to the light via 6" ducting. Hope this helps

Your kidding yourself if you think a pc fan will cool that. Thats a lot of heat . I have a 250w hps in a cool tube in a cab roughly rthe same size as yours and my ventilation fan is defintely no PC fan. Inline fan or ruck fan. Trying to cool a 400w your gonna have noise no matter what. its just too hot

I think the max CFM your going to get out of a 120mm is from this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835706023
RPM: 6000 RPMAir Flow: 210.38 CFMNoise Level: 64 dBAThe DBA level is a little steep though and for 36 bucks you could spend a bit more and get this http://www.acehardwareoutlet.com/productDetails.aspx?SKU=6104947

CFM on low: 1280, on medium: 1750, on high: 2180

I use one just like with GREAT results and it's not to loud, I can hold my hand on the glass of my hood , it is actually very cool to the touch.

Yeah it does help!! I saw your grow box pictures and was wondering how hot it gets in there? Did your grow work well? My grow cab is going to look alot like yours except that mine is 7ft tall... Also do you have any other cooling ideas? Thx

Oh, cause i was going to get a hydrofarm sunburst...it has a lens to "box" the light, i was also going to run ducks true it..1x inline pc fan and 1x exhaust pc fan....even maybe have a small fan venting right on the light...in your opinion, you think it's still going to be be too hot??

I dont think im going to buy 400w if i have to use a duck fan or squirrel cage...

Anyways thx for the help

My cab sits at 69 - 72 at the moment without the fan fo the hood running just the MH light, with the hps, fan and aircon it sits at 72- 75 so not to bad. is your light hood sealed? the glass cover does wonders i can keep the hps 6 - 8 " off plants no prob

I don't think the answer is the fan. I think the answer is going to be your heat source. You light doesn't have to be just on the top of your chamber. Line the inside of your box with some cfl's and I think you'll be amazed with the results.
