I'm runnning a simple closet setup at the moment. Nothing special. I have two hanging CFL's in work light fixtures. My girl's just a baby, about a week old. As of right now I have a 68W 2700k CFL and a 26 W 6500k Bulb in the other unit. The plant positioned in between the two CFL's. Would it be more effecient to run two 26 W 6500k bulbs?

I appreciate any help thanks

You can never go wrong with too many CFL's. Its good to diversify them like you are though. Just try to position them around the plant

Would a (42W 2700k/68W 2700k) combo be better than a (26W 6500k/68W 2700k) combo? Or is having the variation better than the watt improvement for veg

if it's possible, you can have all 3. cfls don't get very hot and they are low on energy so do all of em if you can. when the plant gets bigger it'll have trouble getting some of the light to the lower leaves. so for this u can put the 68 on top, and the other 2 on the sides. this could require some outlets though. also, not too expensive, gl man.

Yeah, your ratio is offset. During seedling thru vegetation you want mostly a blue spectruim for your plant. You can add the other spectrum, but your actual wattage needs to be 2x greater than the flowering 2700 cfl. i.e. 26watt x 2 equals 52watts, your other light is 68watt, so actually you'll need as many as 5 26 watters to the one 68 watter. buy 150 w hps instead.
If you decide to go w/hps, keep in mind you will most likely have heat issues. Be prepared to add venting, exhaust fan, perhaps a ballast. I grow w/the larger spiral CFLs using clamp-on fixtures and diy fixtures. For flowering I use eight 105 actual watt/400 watt incondensent output, 2700k, 5000 lumen, and I use six 85watt/350watt, 6500k, 4200 lumens and six 26watt, 5000k, 1700 lumen as supplement lights for vegetation. I'll add a flowering light or two in w/my veg. lights and vise versa to mix the spectrums up abit. I have a 4ft x 4ft x 9ft grow closet. I have no heat issues, can place any of my CFLs along, above, below and front as well as behind each plant. You cannot do that w/hps. Review my 1st grow journal, you will see that CFLs are my choice of light. Good luck w/ur grow. Photos of 1st grow, CFLs can take you all the way.....
