Newbie grower needs help!!

Where i live its kind of hard to find seeds/clones. so i have had ONE seedling growing for about a week in my cfl closet setup with 24hrs of light. I'm a little concerned that my seedling will be male and all my time will be wasted. I recently read on another post that you could start your seedlings off 12/12 and that they usually turn out more stalky and short with one long cola bud ranging from 12" to 16" and the have an 80% chance of being female. I just wanted a little feedback and opinions. I currently have a 20watt, a 14watt, and a 26watt cfls. Just three lights so far but I'm going to get a couple of more cfls soon...or maybe one more 42watt cfl.
I was also wondering if its too late for me to switch to 12/12 since its been a week already.

its never too late to switch to 12/12 but going from 12/12 to 24/0 is a no-no unless youhave the time to let it recover and revert back to vegging.
Male-female is in the genetics and not when you start the plant, and I never heard of the 80% thing, but that could just be me.

Oh ok thanks for the help. Do you think if i switched from 24/0 to 18/6 then to 12/12...making the nighttime longer each week that my plant would grow similar to some of the SOG plants I've read about...short and stalky with a less amount of fan leaves?

SOG are smaller plants and straight to 12/12 form seed, less yield per plant but more plants. If you want to go SOG go right to 12/12 with as many plants as you have.

But i only have one plant...i'm just a little worried about my closet space being too small and odor control too. Ive never grown before so i really dont know much. I just figured if i switched to 12/12 now then the plant would be shorter and easier to hide.

it will be a smaller plant with no veg time but if thats what you want then 12/12 is the way to go.

AH such a hard decision! I guess I'll just keep on veggin for now and wait it out so i can get more bud.
Do you know about how long after a seedling breaks the soil to give veg nutrients? I dont wanna kill my only baby haha

I wait 2-3 weeks, but I am in hydro
this next pic is after 4 weeks and I just started to feed her very light nutes but she is going to be my mother so I am keeping the nutes to a minimum so the clones are not nutrient heavy.

If you got that seed from a bag of hydro it will most likely be female. If not, well who knows. I'd 24 hour the light and take snips from it and bud them. That will solve your seed problem. As far as the gender of your plant, you will have to wait and see.

Ok so I guess i'll start giving light veg nutes around this time next week or a week after that depending on size. She'll be two weeks or three weeks old then and should be about that size. Here's some pics of her(i call it a her hoping that's what she'll be haha). 1 week and 1 day old

I got my seed out of some dank bud that was supposedly sour diesel i got in Austin Texas. There was literally only one seed in all of the buds...and i had a half ounce. I thought for sure it wouldnt sprout but it did. I have no clue how those buds were grown though. I guess I'll have to wait

Sounds like you should have what you need. Cool white flouresent 24/0 lighting is what moms like the best.

hey dank what kind of soil are you in. most soils have enough nutrients to sustain 30 days or so before feeding. i would consider that before you dump anything on them. if i were you i would grow it out a bit take a few clones and then flower it to determine sex. a hps would be ideal for flowering instead of cfl's. i was wondering why not buy some good seeds from someone reputable that way you know their good genetics and out of a 10 pack your bound to have a female or two???
