HPS Camera Filter?????

I thought I was helpful. I just stopped paying attention when all the bickering started. But it looks like everything got worked out.
You had good advice if he has a camera that has detachable lenses.

If he is using a Cybershot style camera, he will not be able to use filters. He didn't tell us what camera he is using. He just asked "how do I take better photographs".

My answer was, "learn to re-size your images" which would improve his current photograph.

This is when everyone got on me, including trolling PM's (again), name calling and being attacked by the mob.

wow man this kind of childish ass behavior is starting to be the norm on RIU these days..

what is going on?
Younger crowd is moving in and they do not like to be taught anything. They just want quick, shallow answers that will not help them in the long run.

To try and bring this thread back on topic. Heres a pic I took, in RAW format, with a Nikon D40 and a polarized filter.

DSC_0182.jpg

This is adjusting contrast, white balance and exposure levels. I dont alter any of the color when posting pics of plants here. Otherwise I wouldnt get accurate advice.

And heres just messing around with RAW format.

ok...lets start over....maybe....my camera sucks....well...is'nt a D40....it's a Fuji F20...no removable lens....not the best but it gets the job done....so.....are what you saying is that I need a new camera....was wanting to get one(actually its the D40 I'm after) but other things are on the horizon(1st born).....anyway...just went through the settings on the camera and found the white balance adjustments....thumbing through I could tell a difference just in my living room.....will try in an hour and a half when the GreenRoom kicks on and see what I can come up with....I'll post results(resized for Kulong..LOL) ASAP...thanks guys.

If you want the most control over your photos. dSLR is the way to go. D40s can be found relatively cheap these days. Point and shoot cameras such as the one you have dont give you the control you need to compensate for the yellow hue of HPS. Most of it is automated and not geared for the lighting you find in grow areas.

Just go download the program "Adobe Lightroom" and use it to change your picture settings. You don't need a great camera. Just import the pictures to lightroom, then change the white balance in lightroom, and then export the photo to your destop (or wherever). Done. Torrentz.com That's where I found it.

This is where I think it started. LOL

You need to learn how to re-size your photographs first.
An opinion or yours, but said in a somewhat cocky manner. Could have been voiced more positively. eg: You should probably size your pictures down a bit so that we don't have to scroll over to see them. Good pic though!

Your pic is so huge it gives me a headache.
And this was just a negative comment that did not need to be said. Which is what started all the negativity.

You may not have been trying to come off as negative or cocky, but you did unfortunately . Perhaps reading your own words over twice before posting them, and then considering how others may read and then perceive your tone (hard to perceive when it's typing) and what you meant to say.

By the way I agree, large pictures are somewhat annoying and hard to look at. But I would have tried to voice my opinion in the most polite way, in order to not offend a fellow poster.

Also, Nice pic by the way ENDLSCYCLE! They're looking good.

Don't know if it has been suggested, but you can adjust the colors pretty easily in photoshop. One of those yellow photos can be made quite normal in colors.

Yes you can use Adobe Photoshop, But Adobe Lightroom is a much simpler program to do simple adjustments like white balance and such. Check it out if you haven't. It's really quite nice. Adobe Lightroom
