can u grow these indoors?? if yes, under what kind of light would u need to grow them or indoor climate. i know there are only certain places that these can grow outside but id luv to grow some inside.

Avocados grow on a tree - and you need a decent sized tree to support a respectable number of fruits. I really doubt whether it would be feasable to grow one indoors.

yea, I have two avocado trees - can't have too many avocados
The best part is they hang on the tree for a couple of months without ripening - just pick them and a week later they are ripe.
I generally just pick one a day and have a succession of ripening avocados.
My trees have just flowered and set their fruit, unless we get really hot dry winds soon I should have a bumper crop.

I started an avocado indoors about a month ago, and it's already leafed out. I've had it in a north facing window that gets no direct light and it has been fine so far. Once I pot it I'll probably move it to a south facing window or throw a small cfl over it during the winter. If you plan on growing one I would start more than one seed because a few of mine failed to germinate. Here's some good directions to start your own. I'll post a pic of my avocado tree later when I can find my camera.

Erm just to save you some time, you will very seldomly get a avo tree that fruits or at if it does, that has edible fruit, from the seeds, I actualy have two seedlings at the moment I am growing just for the trees.
If you want an avo tree, get one from the nursery. If you want to keep them indoors, they need to get alot of sunlight to keep them from being thin and twiggy. Also remember to top them when they have a few leaves so they bush out niceley.

Hey it doesn't matter if they grow on a tree... Just bonzai it!!! I have an orange tree in a in a party cup right now....I saw this thread and I am definitely going to try to grow an avocado tree...they have the good fat, lol.

let me know how it goes man. i was thinking about growing it indoor using like cfls/hps lol but i dont think ill mess with it. i hear they can only grow in certain climates or somthing.
