Flower spectre HPS

I bought my first HPS system and the balast came with a lamp that says Flower Spectre HPS 250W (from GIB lighting).

Is the lamp for the flowering stage of my plants only? Do I have to buy also a lamp for the veg stage?

Thanks

...the HPS (high pressure sodium)is designed to mimic the fall/harvest sun (red). The MH (metal halide) is designed to mimic the spring/veg sun (blue). They have HPS with a blue spectrum to use for all stages of growth....BUT, HPS will do all you need, just as the MH will......good luck.

Hps light's are the only lighting sytem's that are any good for indoor cultivation,a 250 will do a few plant's try to keep the light close to the top of the plant's.This will cause the plant to give close node's this inturn will then give you a far bigger yeild.I started with a 250 and alway's got anything from 4/5 ounce dry with a max of 4 plant's.I would advice you to flower small around a ft tall with the light kept close they will end up doubleing in height around the 2ft mark. But the answer to yr question is you have made the right choice with the hps light. One you get to grip's with growing indoor's move up too a 600.........tyke........

check your ballast if it can ignite mh. if yes , buy a mh bulb to use it in vegetative growth. the best and the simplest way.
i use fluorescent (6000k) for veg and hps (2000k) for flowering

...or better yet, get a digital ballest. They will operate a MH & HPS.

Ok so for better results MH is needed for veg. I have also seen HPS bulbs that are more blue and white. Are these any good?
