Whats best for cool tube??

Yup no filter, any reduction in airflow will reduce the cooling effect.... Unless you have an über powerful fan of course!

The cooling system should be run on a separate circuit for optimum results, suck in cold air from outside and blow it down through the ducting to your cooltube(s) and then out through ducting to outside again. By outside I mean outside room/box, not necessarily outdoors!

By doing it this way you cam be sure that your cooltubes are doing the best possible job of taking away all that excess heat! Afterall that is why you bought cooltubes in the first place :-) The 2nd reason to have your setup like this is with a closed cooling circuit you are able to more closely control the atmosphere of your room/box and as such can look at CO2 dosing etc etc.

Any extraction or intake of air directly into the room for the sake of air circulation, odour control etc etc should ideally be taken care of by a separate fan. Thenvonus being that as the 2nd fan is not having to do much work to keep the room cool you can use a relatively low cfm item to do the job.

nice man i did one of those a while back, just be careful and make sure you don't accidentally turn the roots brown, i did and i could never fix it. I just made my own DIY aeroponic cloner based off of stinkbuds setup. I'm doing a test with some tomatoe cuttings before I risk some precious babies. So far 6 of 6 have rooted, 100% success rate. But i did however manage to burn the shit out of my plants by having the 400w hps too close to them, about 3 ft away, its more like 5ft away now so they are starting the recovery process. Man I hope I get a t5 8 bulb fixture for my bday. that would be sweet to do away with heat and cool tubes until the winter when heat is needed, atleast for me. Give us an update on what switching around the fan setup does and how it affects everything please, im eager to see how it turns out. thanks a lot man!

Update

I've taken down my cooltube now.. Not because i didn tthink it worked but my space is limited with every thing else ive got going on, running the ducting was getting in the way of my shit..
Might get back on it in future though..

So people please feel free to post any pics of setup, and if you need something answered that isnt covered already post it im sure you'll get a answer..

Filter > Tube > Ducting >Fan
Any reason why you do it that way? Tried that way first only with a bit of ducting between the filter an tube, since then I've heard many other ways to it setup, so much different ways!! Check back some earlier posts Sule ,see what you think. Thanks for the reply .

Heres the set up: filter-duct-6"fan-duct for exhuast, duct-5"fan-cooltube-duct.The air is being sucked over the light. Then i have 10" fan reduced down to 6" then Y piece to both tents for air input.

In the cooltube tent theres 3x 20ltr bubblers 1 Ak 48 from seed and 2 cheese cuts both got off food only one hasnt recovered , 3x ak48 in small pots,1 pineapple chunk , 1 power diesel in square 11ltr soil pot and the other is an unknown plant..

There also some shots of the other tent cheese at 4wks flower.
Temps have been alot better now i have the air input sorted out , its stays 24-27.c now , i dont think ill turn it around if the temps stay like this.

Im not sure if i should have this fan on the end sucking the air or have some ducting there first ,the fan seems to be getting hot anybody think it'll melt?
Temps are steady and plants are loving it..

ok mr know it all who think the cool tubers have it all wrong what about the 48" or the 60" tubes that hold two lights what then cool tube expert
wheres ur common sence o and dont get ur panties in a bunch im just teasin w/u
the bigger mistake is people sucking air threw the tube instead of blowing itQUOTE=Vento;4491127]Hi :)

Just want to chip in here with a little tip for all you Cooltube users , I see a lot of pics around the net and they are set up wrong more often than not ...and heres why ...

People seem to overlook the whole idea of how they work and put them the wrong way round ... Your air intake needs to connect to the lamp fixture end of the cooltube so that cool air passes over the fixture befor it goes over the lamp... and then out .

If the cool air hits the lamp first and is sucked past the fixture on the way out ... IT HEATS IT UP ! :)

That hot metal fixture and all the metal around it heats up ... This adds to room temp and interupts the flow out of the exaust ducting ...It can get pretty hot .

Might just sound like common sence ... But you would be supprised how many people i see getting this wrong :)

Hope this helps somone :)

Kool medi.. thanks fot the reply do think it would make a diference if i put a 1m of ducting in between the fan and tube?

I'm due to turn it around this week and see how the other side works..

Steady temps

SAM_3838.jpgSAM_3840.jpg

This is the last shot of the pull temps i will be turning it around to see what works the best for me-- im not trying to prove one way right or wrong--just trying to get my shit dialed in.

You can add a couple pics (no more than 2 a time plz:)) of temps and state a Simple Push or Pull.

Temps are so cold right now i dont need the cooltube on and its staying in the range 25.-28.c so i wont be using it until its needed or i setup some aircooled hoods in the main room.I'll post pics when its up.

Thanks for all help given even the bad advice :)
