cheers Spoc, ill look him up, like ive said before i dont claim to be an expert, just putting together all the best ideas that caompanies seem to have, throw in a couple of my own, see what happens? ive asked people who have the quals. to back up their knowledge and they say the theory checks out so just gotta try it out.

smokemore- not sure if anyone else uses C.O.B to describe the growing method ive decided to try- crown of buds. it involves uncle bens topping technique to get 2 main colas then crossing the stems over and lst'ing them around the edge of the pot, then when they meet back through the middle to the other side effectively making two half circle sections and then spiralling to fill the space until you have enough coverage then hit the flower switch! makes plants about 6-8 inches high with buds pointing straight up like a pot of strawberries and the leaves around the edge of the pot like a greek leaf crown hence c.o.b - crown of buds lol.

plsfldthx- going through my many many pages to find those specific pieces of info you want, ill post it up WITH links asap!

a small example of what im talking about-:
spectrums.png
notice how many different shades there are rather than JUST red and blue? light red, dark red, far red, green, light green, blue, light blue, navy blue, yellow, orange, lilac, puurple... get my reasoning here? and notice how each spectral range is at a different intensity? this is what im trying to create, but not at a fixed power rate for each spectrum, completely adjustable because plants are like ppl, everyone likes something a little bit different :)
these TRUE full spectrum leds DO EXIST, just need the right ones, in the right colors, in the right power rating and at the right quantity, IT CAN BE DONE! i just think most places throw together a panel with red and blue to cash in and some even use cheap, pre made chinese traffic light boards, swap out the green led's, make it look pretty and call it a UFO lol some campanies are legit but i will admit it is A LOT of work and research to get it right but ive been doing that for months with real professional help and once i do it once itll be simple to replicate, refine and sell cheap! well a S*!T load less than 1-3 grand! wtf??? parts honestly even the very best quality to make it round up just under 170 australian, few hours putting it together once you get good at what 30 an hour? i mean i can get away with selling these things as a kit for around $$250 aus or complete lights for around $500? still make a little profit on each, pay for my time packaging etc. and they should outperform ALL on the market even 3 times that price.

not doin it for the money ppl...

help any?

Hahahahaha if only it were that simple Ben, you sound very naive not brave talking like that! But hey don't let me be the one to burst your bubble, do it yourself my friend.

oh and here's the link to that site, best light they claim spectrum but only provide 3 shades but notice they have the third most crucial- ORANGE and that makes a HUGE difference hence the rave reviews... but i think $1200 is WAY steep for a 3 spectrum light, no adjustability whatsoever etc etc and they claim a ridiculous 63 square foot coverage umm doubt it they just dont penetrate enough. so these guys have got the right idea, finetuning each band to reach light saturation but no overload but they still sellin pipe dreams.
i will have about 11 different shades in mine and you will control them all!

When they say 63 ft of covergae they imply other plants like lettuce etc. these lights are never solely made for growing cannabis. Advanced led has a 11 wavelength unit already and most are able to control red and blue spectrums independantly.

yeah but control over red and blue isnt all you need really... i mean you can get away with it but its not optimal
newworldiceon- i am oh so very aware of how it ISNT that simple, i just thought it was a nice little visiual to help explain whay my words weren;t quite getting across, i have spent far too much time and energy researching this, and although yes advanced led do have 11 wavelength arrays (i knew SOMEONE had to have done it lol) i cant justify that cost when i can diy.

newworldorder- maybe you could help a bit? the pro grow 180, they claim 3 plants through the full cycle, 3 full size plants? what abou 4-6 plants lst'd to 4-8 inches high?

I'd go with Penetrator lights, before Pro Grow.

But I still think the Procyon design is the stuff.

There's mention of Cree kits here.

You seem to have a lot of enthusiasm for this diy light stuff...

so why not put it to a better use and research how we, as consumers, can buy single luxim metal halide/argon plasma bulbs as well as how we power them. the bulbs are out there and there are a few growing systems that use them, but as far as i can see no one has bought one. I imagine that the bulbs themselves are not too horribly expensive, just rare.

If you can figure out this question you can also find a way to add some red to this light (leds here work) as the Luxim engine lacks a bit in the red for flowering.

karr-havent really looked into these, i got the impression the tech was just too far away but is it worth looking into? csn you explain a bit about them 4 me?

I have seen side by side youtube grows between penetrators and prolycons and the prolycons were blown out of the water, you just like the look of it. Also look at the colour spectrum of the led's they use. they have not updated them in 2 years, why? They have been built already. Pro grow is by far the best value based on price, parts and warranty. And... you can see grow journals on their website.

How about you research this instead of asking someone else to do it......yeah???!!!

there is a spectrum when delivered in low quantities actually helps mj produce a protein to help fight off bacteria? hells yeah
hells yeah!

Lol why do I find it hard to believe this guy pored through thousands of pages of materials and methods and research regarding LEDs
