Seeking experience on the matter

So to make it short.

Using ebb n gro 12 pot hydro system.

Last crop, had a huge issue with root bound due to 8 weeks of vegging.

Anyways, before xfering into bud this time around, i chopped the root ball off to the pot, to prevent root bound, which has worked amazingly well. Hydroton is still full of roots obviously.

I'm wondering if anyone that has tried this before noticed a hit to their yield. I've heard mixed opinions on the matter but have never talked to someone that had actual experience with the same scenario.

1 1/2 weeks into bud, the roots are already starting to poke through the bottom of the pot again, quite noticeably. Plants look completely normal and in the correct stage.

Anyone have experience with this?

personally I wont NEVER cut off any roots, just move to a bigger pot.
oh ya, definitely. wasn't possible to move to the 5 gallon ebb n gro just yet. that is next time around.

had to work with what i had and only possible solution was to take the risk and cut the roots. plants showed absolutely no stress and like i said are exactly where they should be almost 2 weeks in.

just really wondering if final yield will be effected.

cutting off roots has to be bad for the plant somehow or else everyone would be doing it, ya know? Roots give the buds their food from the nutrients you have for them and I am thinking that without as many roots as possible something has to be on the decline. If the leaves and stems are healthy after you cut off the roots than I would say that the bud yield would be affected as you are taking some of the avenues for food away which they would need to grow.

right. but the 2 gallon pot is literally a big root ball, and it gets flooding all the way to the top of the pot. i cut off the shit that grows out the bottom, into the flood pot.

i mean, i'm sure the plant is getting enough nutrients to yield at maximum potential.

the only thing i can see is if cutting off the extra roots does limit intake to the point where the plant is needing more water/nutes than it gets from the rest of the roots in the pot. at this time, there is no sign of that. actually, quite the opposite. some of the prettiest girls i've seen in a long time.

it's hard to tell if it will have any effect. someone that has been through the same thing would be able to tell me if their yield was affected or not.

here is a thread if you really dont believe cutting the roots is bad its kinda old on RIU but very informative the root hairs at the very tip of the root is where it stock piles all its nutes for future use you see if you keep cutting the root tips it may not DIE but grow bigger or normal yeild guaranteed not like they say in the thread the plants yeild is proportional to root size. Firstlly I have been using a ebb and Grow 12 bucket system for 2 years and have never had a rootbound problem, but I would never veg for 2 months "thell all be 6 to 8 foot trees"
I grow 3 to 4 crops a year ..never have replaced the rock just cleaned them...I avarage 1 to 3 lbs of manaqured bud a grow...
Pruning and super cropping is the answer...pluss more yeald for your efforts.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

Do a search and check out my 5 jurnals if you want to see what you can do with your system......
Youl notice I plant 2 cuttings fully rooted from the cloner to the rock and thats 2 per bucket I only let my plants get 1.5 feet and I usualy end up with a nice managable 3 foot finished plant. 24 0f them with 4 to 6 colas..:leaf::leaf::leaf:
