Everyone is listing for their first grows like.. im growing "insert random amazing good strain". My seeds are from some reg mid grade crap. I feel kinda dumb with a lot of the growing stuff cuz nobody posts pix of their low grade regs, only their dank!

Will my lower grade stuff wind up looking kinda good?

Man you never know. You could give 2 different growers the same strain of clone/seed and they'll grow 2 different plants, guaranteed. It's all about what you are using in your process and how you take care of them. Of course, yes, strain does have a lot of say in the deal too, but what I'm getting at is what YOU do during the grow will have the most effect.

I'm doing my first grow with some bagseed too. I wasn't going to spend money on strains that I could mess up through newbie ignorance. Learn from your bagseed and use that knowledge to grow great 'brand' strains. That's my plan anyway. Good luck with your grow.

If you do it right your shit should be great, its the making of seeds that ruins weed and its potency, and since you kill any male plants right away so that doesnt pollinate them and you do end up with a bunch of low grade bud like the bag it came from.

Just take care of your plants and get rid of the males, you should get some great buds from this grow, who cares if your plants won't be a fancy named strain

Don't feel like a chump .... i would say you was more of a chump if you shelled out a load of cash on expencive seeds for your first grow and had no clue

Its better to start with something simple for your first grow so you can learn as you go with as little expence to you as possible ...so your on the right track man

Choice of Strain is VERY importent in the production of good quality gear ... But for a first grow ... just have fun .. learn how to read the plants and then step up in your future grows

Welcome. Just finished my first grow from bag seed schwag. Here were my results... The look, smell & taste will be 100x better than the bag junk you started with. As you put love and care into the grow. Handled, trimmed & cured them properly. The high will be just slightly better. Little more potent because of the way your buds will be handled, less hands, packaging & movement= less tric degrade or loss. But really the potentcy is trapped in the genitics of the seed you start with.

I think I was lucky that my 1st ever grow turned out to be a full female (which is now almost 3 weeks into flowering (still no bud growth and no stretching)) no male or hermie here!

I agree. My first grow was bag seed, turned out danky. This years is awesome as well. Also random bagseed. Now I feel I am ready to grow my beans I bought from Sannies. Anesthesia. But I definitely needed the learning from the bagseed grows, and will do more bagseed if I find some good ones. Check out my thread 2010 Deep South Grow.

ive got a bag of 75 bagseed, all random, i threw 6 randoms to germ and 4 popped quick, 1 popped few days ago. 3 different kinds growing so far that i know of, too early to tell for the small one.

the best part is i dont give a shit if i fuck up these seeds, they are my learning seeds till i go grab some WW, Purple Kush, etc.

once i have 2 successful bagseed grows back to back im moving up.

makes no sence starting with the best.

yeh but $20 says that most of the ppl on this forum grew bagseed at some point

EDIT: try not to worry to much, aslong as your plant looks healthy and is growing your good. If it completes flowering you get free nug either way, even if its not the dank.

A lot of the pics on here are of bagseed (unknown strain). If it don't pollinate and get seeds or hermi and get seeds it will usually make some really decent smoke due to the fact it didn't spend all it resources on making seed. So basically if the bag you got it from was ok then what you grow will only be that much better.

Grow grow grow, its the only way to get better. Granted having the greatest strains will make your life easier and make you look like a much better grower than you are (like i do, most of my success is my strains not my talent as i'm still learning), but there is absolutly nothing to be ashamed of with bagseed or cheap genetics. If you have the dedication to pay attention ot your plants and ask when you need help and google when you are stuck, then any seed can come out amazing. The only way to learn is to do it.

oh i got a question. last year my first plant i ever grew hermied last week of flower. it gave me 1 seed. can i expect the seed to be a female, it was off a female plant that hermy slightly and pollinated itself to make 1 seed. is this any good? im currently growing the seed and its definately the fastest growing out og my group. and its got a FAAAAT stem for 2weeks old.

For the record i did all different strains for my first grow, and despite the wide variation in prices and quality, all strains came out fantastic for me . Be sure to dry and cure your bud right and you will have great smoke! Then you can discover which strains are best for your style of grow once you go thru the first grow of any strain.
