Yeah lol what I meant by 'getting it to work' is what did you do with the plants when they got big?
depends. I'm in soil so that require repotting. I don't believe Hydro does. I start off in Jiffy pot (like an 8oz cup) then move to a 1 gallon pot and veg for 4 weeks or so. then depending on how large i want my plants, i repot to a 3 or 5 gallon pot. As mentioned before repotting dirt can get a little messy but the more you do it the easier it gets. and messy to me is a bit of dirt on the ground and 30 seconds to sweep it up lol so nothing crazy.

Hmm, whats a good basic hydro set up for my first time then? I will get seeds later. but i have never seen seeds with the brown shell around them? Lol I guess I sound retarded to you guys, but every time I get seeds they definitely don't look like that..

those totes cost me about 70 bux per to build, work like a charm, my first design didn't support the lid at all so I re-designed, grew 5.5 foot plants in them.you can buy all the shit you need to build one at home depot. you should buy the water pump at a hydro store or online since home depot is proud of their pumps, about 400 gph will do, just look at my photos and its pretty easy to grasp, any questions lemme know,

dont grow just one plant, it's not cost effective. if your going to go through the trouble to set yourself up to grow, grow multuple plants. you will be glad you did. and if you grow only one and it goes male you just wasted a lot of time and effort.

Having several strains is nice, I like variety. And if you live in a medical state males aren't a problem most grow from clones.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNO8nNV_Dd0 here is a link for how to build a deep water culture hydro system for one plant in a five gallon bucket for about 12 bucks done a few of these myself and they work great for a first time grow and hydro grow for that matter a system like this is pretty low maintenance and very efficient and for the elect bill as long as you pay your bill they wouldn't care if you where growing a farm of plants that's just more money in there pocket im running about 1600 watts of lights alone not including pumps, air pumps etc... if you got any hydro questions i can definitely help just a warning though you go hydro you will never go soil lol.

Buckets are nice and cheap but truthfully a pain in the ass to work with, those totes I built have a hinged lid in the front for easy access to check ph/nutrients.Plus the dude on youtube obviously doesn't know about opaque buckets or their benefit.

how much easier can it get lifting a lid and sliding it a little to one direction for about a 4" gap to do your checks like i said i have done them all and the buckets are idiot proof if the totes work for you thats great i use them too for more than ONE plant but for someone who is doing a single plant grow and first time for both hydro and grow its a little overkill to have a DIY system here is some pics of my DWC totes, bucket and ebb&flo's not knocking your comment just saying.

Much easier, sliding a lid even a few inches when theres a top heavy 5 foot pot plant in the bucket, trust me I've done both and I'll stick with my totes. oh but then I see yours don't get that big.

i dont know how your 5 FOOT plants dont topple over in those things anyway they are so oddly shaped. i wouldnt grow a five foot plant unless i had 10 foot ceilings in my house and 70 bucks for a single grow chamber lol you can keep them if someone was that lazy i wouldn't even recommend growing in a hydroponic environment but happy growing what works for you works for you.

I grew 4 of them in a 7 by 4 foot room and came out with about a pound and a half of some pretty decent weed. As for thinking 70 bux for a single grow chamber is expensive you must be needy, these aren't your simple little dwc buckets with shitty little air pumps. They work and they work well, I've done comparison side by side shitty little bucket or 70 dollar tote, I'll take the 70 dollar tote every time.and if you need proof of my 5 plus foot plants here ya go....https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/346967-my-first-grow.html

Original poster, whoever you decide to take advice from follow up on it with your own research, if you decide to go with shitty little buckets don't skimp, get the black ones, roots don't like light. Also DON'T skimp on airstone OR air pump, I buy oxygenators deepwaterinnovations.com , they're more expensive but they produce a much smaller bubble and thats good. They will clog in a couple grows if you don't clean them, the company that makes them also makes what they call a revitalizer to clean the stone, I suspect this is nothing more than a concentrated chlorine bleach and maybe some vinegar.

sorry man still dont agree with you i grow in a 9'LX7'WX7'T grow space and acquire 40+ plants with yields every month(flower room)so you can keep up your POUND AND A HALF i will do bigger things and for being needy i would rather put my money elsewhere like nutes, lights ect i have over 2500 invested in lights alone hows that for needy so dont try and pull your comparison crap cause it wont work

Dude I'll use my knowledge the same way I used it on my first grow, I had a goddamn cola as big around as your big head and probably 4 times the length of your little pecker. original poster sorry to inject a little hate into your thread but this bitch is a moron.
