Preparing your TREES for flowering

I am starting this thread because I am getting ready to start flower for my Deep purple tree. I need to know if I should start her in this condition. She is growing in a 5 gallon dwc bucket (see picture below). I need to know the proper steps for preparing this beast for flower. Should i remove all lower bud sites that arent getting much light? How do the tree growers do it?

Obviously i have a bit of cleanup to do first such as remove any dead leaves under canopy..

Feel free to post pictures of how you did it and the results from your particular methods.

i would flower,then no later than 14 days into it clean up the undergrowth that does not get light

i wouldnt be cutting anyting off the plant during flowering. do all your triming and then switch to 12/12 about a week later, give the beast time to heal. also i would start tieing pieces of string to it and hook them up the ceiling those buds will probably snap the branches towards the end. i do similar grows and i have that prodlem. beautiful looking plant

with that big of a plant I'd leave it if you're using 1,000w. Smaller bulbs might not penetrate far enough so trim growth that won't get much light.

Ok, i just cut off a few things and cleaned her up a bit. I need to train her again. I will be using GH maxi bloom and a few supplements for flower.

I am only using a 400 dedicated to that single plant. I may use two 400's create a V-like pattern of light.

i use 2 600 above each plant and i put a 1000 between each plant and alittle lower so i dont trim the bottom of the plant. but 2 400watts will do really well even 1 is fine IMO

How many weeks did you veg. That plant ? If you could get something underneath to reflect the light up to the bottom of the leaves that will help. Looks great though very very nice plant !

that sounds like a good idea. so you think with two 400's i shouldnt need to trim any lower bud sites? do you think a v pattern will be better than two lights hanging level?

yea i was going to pm him but realized he hasnt posted since june or something like that, he does have some nice trees.

not sure how many weeks but it was a rooted clone around aug 15th. is light effective from beneath like that?

A few strangers saying to shine light from below....have never tried that, always up pointing down. Wouldnt the leaves have to twist 180 degrees to achieve max effectiveness? im thinking training the a horizontal canopy with more lights hung level, possibly cfls for the sides like you have shown but facing down (the way the sun works).

it would be a waste shining them from bellow caz there is no photosynth underneath the leaves. either side by side is fine or a V shape either would work well.

photosynthesis happens in leaves regardless of where the light is hitting it, where ever photons can penetrate. i would say the top side of the leaf is probably better conditioned, and naturally your leaves will turn and face the light. however, i wouldnt bother putting lights under there.

maybe there is some photosnth under the leaves, but it would be ridulous to put the lights there, u would yield so much more with the light above or to the side of the plant like i do with my grows
