Cabinet nearing completion. Few pics and questions.

A friend and I completed the majority of the cabinet itself today. The cabinet measures 48" x 36" x 72". It will be mainly a DWC Recirculating system being misted by a water line in the lid spraying down on the net pots.7, 5 gallon buckets were used with 5" net pots in 6 of them. Drain system is run under the cabinet through the bottom and to the buckets. The 6 buckets in the cabinet are all 3/4" drains dumping into a 1" pvc drain connected to a control bucket outside of the box, which i may or may not attach a large reservoir too(will post pics of this soon, along with the drain under the box soon). Also 50-70cfm bathroom exhaust fan will be installed on the top to control inside temp and humidity. Either will paint the inside flat white or cover it in mylar.

What size light do you guys suggest 400w 600w? Climate controller possibly for humidity and temp? Any other suggestions in general.

I would go for a 600w with an air-cooled hood, with a centrifugal fan handling exhaust if you can afford it. Either way, 50-70cfm bathroom exhaust fan isn't going to be able to handle that size of light. Climate controllers are nice, but expensive, so I would suggest you see if you can do without them for now.

Are you going to cover the front in panda film? Or make a wooden door?

The magnum air cooled hoods are 33" x 27", which will fit inside, but I'd think that the better option would be two lights in smaller air cooled hoods. Like possibly cool tubes, or hoods like the blockbuster. Something you can pair nicely in your box. Is this for only flowering?

I was actually going to use it for veg and flowering. The front i have not decided on yet. It will either be two wooden doors, or cloth will be used with reflective material on the inside like a curtain but it will be sealed light tight with velcro more than likely.

Even with air cooled lights what about humidity and heat still? The box is about 80cf.

Getting a bit more done. Painted the inside in white primer mainly to seal the wood. Added a passive intake to the left and right sides of the box at the bottom along with filters to keep out dust and dirt. A bathroom exhaust fan was added at the top and vented out the right side.

Still trying to decide on a light set up. Next on the list is ordering a Cap Air-2 climate controller and mounting it in the box on some sort of track to move with the canopy of the plants.

not bad, i have essentially the same box. I can tell you that your passive should be a little bit bigger, and it looks like your using a bathroom exhaust fan...whats teh CFM? youre gonna need atleast 175 cfm for that box.

Also, what are you doing about carbon scrubber and a fan for your hood? nice box though, so far...you may want to think about insulating it as well....i did just abasic build like you w/o insulationa nd thenr ealized i needed it to dial the box in better and maintain a more stable environment.

The bathroom fan is only 70. I also have a seperate 80 CFM inline fan for the hood itself. A dehumidifier is in between the buckets. As for the passive air there is a vent of the same size on the other side, which i am hoping is enough. If i can id like to replace the bathroom exhaust fan with a Centrifugal and carbon filter before flowering.

everyone right those bathroom fans are just a waste of time....... also i noticed it appears that you are just going to exhaust your hot air right back into the same room your grow box is in?? is this true??

Its bad enough that your only using bathroom fans but to combine that with an exhaust that outlets back into the same room your growing in is a Noob mistake bro.....You gotta exhaust all that air OUTSIDE or into your attic.......If not you are just recycle hot air heating up your ambient temps in the room and in your house....... You cant just heat up the air then blow it back into the room your box is in then suck it back into the box then out agian and so on tell you have a snow ball effect.....

you should consider doing it right it will make everything easyer in the long run......

just a thought but my box has wooden doors on it and when the fan is on its a struggle to open the doors i read someone else doing fabric front with velcro and they were saying the fan sucks the shit out of it and rips the velcro off just a thought. but a very nice box dude.

Yes, It will be vented to box in a window. But everyone talking about these bathroom fans makes me really want to get rid of it asap.

it is possible to vent into the same area, as long as conditions are right. if it is in a cold basement with adequate air flow, it would be fine to pump into the same area. However, if it is warm, stagnant air, youre absolutely right. TO maintain best conditions and to create the best exhaust with relative negative pressure, always pump to outside.
