Combining Fluoro & CFL for Bloom?

I have 6 girls soon to be put into flowering and am getting ready for it. They now have a 6 tube T5 Fluorescent setup over top of them (all bulbs 6500k spectrum) and are about 5 weeks old.

I was thinking about adding a total of 6 separate clamp on 42 watt CFL's in 2700k spectrum to use to surround the sides of the girls so they'd be getting 6500k from above and 2700k from the sides.

What do you think of the concept overall?

Do you think I need to also change some of the overhead fluorescents from 6500k to 2700k or just leave in all 6500k bulbs in the overhead understanding I am adding the six 2700k CFL's to the sides?

Super forum!

I did the same but I used alternating bulbs in my sidelights, I had a 150 watt HPS and a 150 watt enhanced spectrum Mercury vapor overhead
A buddy of mine grew with 75 % 6500 K in his T5's.

personally if you can afford all 2700k bulbs, go for that, plants will stay lower instead of stretching and grow outwards instead of upwards

no they won't, in fact the exact opposite is what will happen, quite suprised you would suggest this.

The girls are pretty short but VERY stocky (widow & blackjack) as I think I kept the lighting too close to them. I now have the light no less than 2 inches from them. After about 5 weeks of trying to care for them real well they are about only 8 inches high, real healthy, with many branches off the main stem and are about a foot wide. I appreciate the info from frmrboi and you as well.

Any more info/thoughts/experiences are much appreciated and welcomed, this is my first shot.
