Switching Pots

hey, i started to grow a plant, its a little under 2 inches high right now, when do i switch pots?

I gallon per one foot, I think

its only 5 to 7 days old, i got it in a jiffy cup, its a big cup and i just added more soil so the stem has support, but he leaves are at the top of the cup now

Jiffy cup meaning the cardboard cups? If so....keep in that until you see roots at the bottom of the cup. Not sure if roots will grow through the JC....I only use the pellets.

But the smaller the container...the easier it is to move around and handle individual plants.

Keep it there until you need to transplant...and they can be transplanted directly into a larger pot. No need to remove from JC.

Ok thats not a jiffy cup....sounds like a 16 oz plastic cup you're using....If so....Same thing...wait til you see roots hitting the bottom of the cup.

You did put holes into the bottom of the cups for drainage right?

its like the pic, only its plastic , and yes i poked 4 holes in the bottom of the cup

they say the root system is twice as long as whats on top, so try to estimate when they'll be hitting the bottom, and yes they say 1 gallon per 1 foot.

i heard that after 2 weeks no matter what take the plant soil and all out of the cup right into an other batch of soil in a bigger pot

I heard that soaking your seeds in bongwater would make them germ faster...Cant believe everything.

Everyone who responded gave you sound advice.

good advice, i waited to long to transplant, and about 3 plants looked strangled and retarded, so i just tossed em.

but when the other 3 got into some new soil, they took off like crazy! amazeing how fast these things can grow.

You can leave them as long as you want really, there is some disadvantages.

Here take a look at one of mine. This was a clone and around 30 days into veg.

I will take it and place it into a one gallon container for the life of this plant.
