just getting ready to start flowering, have 3-1000w hps, would it be a good idea to also use some of t5 flourescent along with hps or a waste of lighting, room is 8 x 12 and first going to start flowering 6 large plants and add a couple every 2 weeks, have read about uvb and mh, just not sure what is best and sure there is some very experienced members that would know what works best, really like indoor so far, just trying to do right thing instead of learning by mistakes, will start flowering in about a week, just not sure what lights to use,

Use all the lights you can... usually. You on the other hand have 3 freaking 1000w HPS, so idk. 1 1000w HPS would be enough for that room probably, maybe 2, but a 3rd seems like a bit of over kill. In reality though, you can never have to many lights, unless they make to much heat. Also, witht hat many lights, you start running into possible prying eyes, but those arnt usually and issue unless your already under suspision.

In short, go for it with more lights, just keep an eye on temp.

8x12 is huge, you should calculate only the growing area not the whole room, anywa 8x12 requires like 5kw so you will be underlit, and also IMO skip the T5 they need to be too close to plants that they will shade the HPS and theyr not good in flowering, maybe shrrink your room to 60sq.ft and go with your 3k

Oh wow, I completely missed the size of the area being so large. For the shading thing, put them in-between and on the sides. They need to be like 2 inches away to be most effective, but as suppelmental light, they work great to just get enough light flowing under the cannopy, mixed with the hps already getting in. Just dont put them on the ground, facing directly up. The underside of the leaves are not fans of light, so try and get something like a mic stand and attach them to it. I don't know how cumbersome your T5's are though so idk how practicle it is.
