I"m new to GH nutes.. All liquid nutes actually. I think it's weird how little you actually use.. It's like a teaspoon per gallon. I constantly wonder if it's enough, but that's what the bottle says

Ok so Ive been growing this plant for almost 3 weeks now and Ive just recently noticed the leaves have brown spots on the tips forming on new growth. The 2nd set of leaves are turning brown throughout. A few days ago I used 1/3 strength veg fertilizer for the first time. Could this be why? Im using city water as well so could that have something to do with it? This pic is from yesterday. The 4th set of leaves now has some spots too.

That's 3 weeks? wow... That's to small for 1/3 , I would go back to 1/4. What's your PH at?

Im going to checkout that clear x. And the leaves that are turning yellow with the spots are on the very bottom of the plant. I'll Ty flushing and upping the nutes by 20percent.

I've been trying to keep my water around 6.0 ph but I've only got one of those color comparison tester things so it could be anywhere from 6.0 to 7.0 Which I guess isn't really that big of a deal since I've read the optimum level is between 5.5. and 6.5

This is only my second grow but I had the same problem in my first grow with the yellow leaves w/ weird spots. These plants are a lot bigger though and its not nearly as extensive as with the first grow. I wasn't really that careful about ph the first time around but now I'm monitoring it more closely.

Im determined to make this grow go as good as a I possibly can. I'm shooting for an ounce per plant (if thats possible with my setup?) so I'm trying to make everything as perfect as humanly possible.



But being completely straightforward: can flushing your plants actually fix the salt buildup problem or do I need to buy something specifically designed for that???

I've only flushed once up to this point, and I haven't done it since because I read a lot of articles saying that it's a pretty pointless thing to do because your just taking the nutrients away that the plant needs. But as for the salt buildup and nutrient lockout I'm not really sure...??

ok , just started flowering 12/12, now i have changed my original 400w vege lamp for a 600w flowering lamp, now my problem is heat wise, its raised about 5º in my room, plants seem ok i think, but as im watering every 2nd day looked at them this morning and there in need of a good soaking ........ pots are reasonable size but will I have to water daily to accomodate the extra heat let off from the lamp? by leting plant dry out till they start going limp does this effect growth??? humidity is down to 35% at this stage, is this because room is so hot?? im saying 35º

im not that keen on getting an AC unit in there, should i just go back to my 400w lamp to finish this lot off?????​

You've got to do something about the heat. 35 is too hot to do for the entire time, even now it isn't a good thing. I can't think of many methods that won't cost you money. This requires more ventilation, a bigger fan, or cooling the intake temperature down by installing an Air Conditioner.

Vent all your heat outdoors and do what you can to keep the intake cool and that's about all you can do. Keep all the angles out of your ducting too.

I would go back to 1/4 nute solution.. At least till she gets bigger.. I"m still running mine on 1/4 and they are like 3 times the size of yours, and they are only 2 and a half weeks old..
I'm about to bump them up to half this weekend, it will be 3 weeks on saturday.

You can always drop it down to 400.. If your 400w ballast runs both MH and HPS you can put your HPS 600w in, it will only run at 400w.. Yes this will effect growth, if you let the plant go limp all the time, it will grow more roots (if it has room) to look for more water, not spending it's energy on flowering. It can make the plant stronger in the long run, but it will take longer to flower. You need to vent if you want to keep the 600w. If you're in a closet or a tent, you can leave the door open and have a regular house fan blowing heat out into the room. This will work, but it won't be light tight for dark time, you'll have to manually close it every night..

1. I'm absolutely clueless when it comes to nutrients. HELP! What should I use? how often should I give them to my plants? (and everything else I should know about nutes as I'm completely in the dark)

2. What does feeding a plant entail and how often should I feed them? (I always assumed giving the plants nutrients was feeding them. I read in a different thread that my assumption was incorrect.)

3. I plan on growing about twenty plants and was planning on using two 600w MH but I only have one breaker available so with my fans and dehumidifier I would be above the 15 amp limit of the breaker. I need a new light solution but I've heard bad things about cfl's and i don't know shit about LED's. What would you suggest I do?

4. whats a good organic soil? I don't really want to go through the hassle of mixing my own my first time around.

5. what are some easy, forgiving strains to grow my first time around? preferably one sativa and one indica

6. also, if you could point me to a good website or other source for beginner growers that would be awesome!

1 Any good nutes will have a recommended feeding schedule. I use General Hydroponics. They have a feeding schedule on their webpage.

3 Use 2 400's or 1 1000.. Don't even bother with CFL or LED. If you want 2 600's get a bigger breaker or run an extension cord for the fans and dehumidifier.

4 Any reason you want organic?

5 Northern lights is a quite easy to grow indica. As far as sativa goes, I've only ever grown crosses.. Never pure sativa.

6 This site has many tutorials and guides posted in the forums, just look around.. There is a thread started today that gives a link to 2 free online ebooks about growing..

Thanks mate, have a seperate 400w balast and a seperate 600w ballast so went back to what was working my 400w

anyone have any USEFUL information. I wasnt tym aware that this thread was created to brag about how big your plant is. And I highly doubt that youve been growing for less time and your plants are three times the size of mine considering that would make them over a foot tall. Nice try but no. I had to go digging to figure out just what the fuck you are bitching about.

So... your plant is small and has some brown spots. It could be genetic you know?
Here's what you do. Dial in your pH at a specific number, not in a range, and add a little more light to the area.

If your temperature is around 75 degrees all the time, the pH is dialed at 5.8, the humidity at 50%, and the lighting adequate, then all you need is a balanced nutrient and time.

Try and take a deep breath too. Your plant is for one reason or another undersized. Other people aren't trying to "show off" when they say this. They are trying to let you know. The brown spotting could be a sign of pH damage or Calcium deficiency. Given the size of the plants the leaves that are sick right now are usually removed before flowering starts anyway.

Do the things a person must have for a healthy plant and she'll come around soon enough.

Sorry if you misunderstood my post. I wasn't trying to brag about my 2 and a half week old average sized plants. I was trying to help, I gave you what information I could. They are Small, and they are too small for more nutes. I suggested going back to 1/4.. This is very useful information. It's not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth.

This isn't me bragging, this is me showing you what normal 3 week old plants look like.
